Most of his success came from landing punches and grinding him against the cage, JDS got demolished no doubt but his TDD after this cannot be questioned. Any wrestlers that has to face that man is going to have problems.
Only giving up 11 from 33 attempts is pretty good against a wrestler like Cain, especially when you get your grill adjusted early.
Still, getting taken down 11 times in one fight is pretty bad. It would probably be about 15 if it weren't for all the cage grabs.
thats true. especially after reading like three weeks of these crazed dos santos fans sayin cain WONT take him down and KO him in the first. but im just not a dick and wont rub it in their face.
That's a lot of 1s (the strikes 111 and the TDs 11) lol. Very impressive from Mr. Velasquez especially considering who he broke those records on. Anyone know the combined time for JDS on the ground now? Before it was 13 secs, but what did this fight put it at?
JDS was actually #2 in least time spent on their back in the UFC, this fight might have bumped him off the top 5, not sure, or at least bumped him down a couple slots, but Weidman is #1 at 2 or 3 seconds I believe, very impressive.
Yeah thought this too, most of the time he would throw one punch and go for it or just try to cling onto the one leg. Was really impressed with jds' Tdd to be honest even when he was gassed , he either made it hard for Cain to take him down and hold him or got back up quickly
