How many super fights are left in UFC?

It depends what you consider a superfight.
I always consider a champion going up or down a weight division to be considered a "superfight", even if a lot of them are unwarranted/not that intriguing.
Some would say big money fights like Diaz/McGregor, Nunes/Rousey, Brock/Carwin, etc. I can agree to some extent, depending on the hype level.

I would say right there's Izzy/Usman, Volk/Yan, Oliveira/Volk, Izzy/Jiri, and I'll throw in a "money fight" that I could think of which is Diaz/Poirier.
I do thinks some of these are unwarranted or would be a pretty one-sided affair.

Funny thing about Nate is, without Conor he really wouldn't be 1/10th what he is today in terms of fan interest.

At least Khabib had his undefeated record and how good he was and all, but I'm sure he wouldn't be as big without Conor still but on the other hand, Nate has NEVER been elite, but has been very inactive, but I'm sure lots of people would wanna watch Poirier/Nate. Not my type of super fight.

Funny enough though, and Poirier prrobably think that's an easy money fight, but I bet Nate has an exact style to give Poirier trouble if he can defend low kicks and avoid getting cut. Significantly better boxing, BJJ and cardio.

A superfight is a champion of one division fighting the champion of another division.

Any other definition is simply unacceptable.

Only exceptions to this with the current landscape would be a returning champion v current champion. So Ngannou v Jones, Volk v Cejudo.

Right now, it's unclear whether Russian fighters are going to be able to compete any time soon with all those sanctions coming for Russians. If Dana was the boss, I'm sure he may not give a fuck, but it looks like Dana is more of a front man and Disney is calling the shots, so it's very murky how things are going to be.

With Islam vs Dariush cancellation, which I thought was one of the best fights that UFC can put on right now across all weight classes, it kinda got me wondering how many super fights are left for UFC to make right now. And when I say super fights, I mean more in terms of their fighting abilities, not their star powers nor name values necessarily, since I don't know if there are many super stars left in MMA really, if at all, I mean Izzy? lol.

I just mean really, a compelling fight between two fighters whom you think are two of the best, if not the best, if not potentially, in their primes, that would get you looking forward to it as much as anything in the world. Or just a good damn fight that you really wanna see.

The way I see it, the potential super fights that remains are not that numerous.

HW: Jones vs Stipe, Gane vs Aspinall, two best HW prospects in a long while
LHW: Jiri vs Hill, just bleed.
MW: Izzy vs Perreira, though no idea if he gets past Bruno.
WW: Khamzat vs Covington/Usman, Brady vs Shavkat
LW: Islam vs Dariush, Islam vs Oliveira/Gaethje winner.
FW: Evloev vs Mitchell/Topuria, though Barboza could derail Mitchell I suppose.
BW: Yan vs Cejudo, Shore vs Usman

What other super fights or damn good fights are left in UFC?

I think you don't need to worry about the russian fighters yet, they still have Dubai.

I would love to see volk v triple C, or anyway v him. He really needs to come back.

As far as superfights, new ones will always come up as new contenders come thru the ranks.

I think the fight itself will be very fun and I see Nate giving Poirier a decent amount of issues. Especially at 170, a division Nate has had a chance to fill in for and has competed there multiple times.
Poirier's gas tank might take a hit at 170.

I still favor Dustin, but I have trouble seeing him finish Nate. I see a competitive decision.
Do I think it warrants the hype? Kinda, the smack talk will be funny from Diaz's side and the fight should be guaranteed entertainment.
Should it be a PPV main event? No imo, I don't think it warrants that and it would be a better FN or co-main to a PPV.

Isn't Nunes vs Cejudo far more likely. They are both former BW champions and Cejudo has already thrown his hat into the Intergender Champion discussion.

I'd love to see Nunes beat the shit out of him, wouldn't happen of course but it would be hilarious.

Conor vs Ngannou or Black Beast
Just like the Pride days when Minowa fought Butterbean, Bob Sapp, and Giant Silva.
If they did that would actually pay to watch mma for the first time in 3 years.

Francis vs Bones the biggest fight they could make right now

Idk if this really qualifies as a super fight but if Bobby knuckles wants to kill himself to try and fight Usman back at 170 I’d pay for that one

Khamzat vs. Usman

Khamzat vs. Israel once he beats Burns.

If Whittaker had got the nod in a close fight vs Adesanya, I wouldve loved to have seen Whittaker v Usman. As it is Usman and Adesanya won't fight, and I actually think stylistically Whittaker is a tougher fight for Usman (though I wouldn't pick him to win against either).

Volk vs Islam/Oliveira - styles make fights and I think Volk poses problems for any wrestling based fighter at 155.

Nate has a better boxing BJJ cardio and I don't think it's even close.

But Poirier has good low kicks and does have power, and pretty good striker in his own right AND in his prime and active.

On paper, Nate has a way better boxing and BJJ and cardio. But this is MMA, and Poirier would be faster more powerful and can go five rounds. Poirier will start going to the legs and upstairs from time to time.

If Nate can minimize the damage to his front leg and can avoid getting clipped and cut early, I'm sure it's his to lose, but the question is can he

Hope so.

And I always thought Cejudo with the right match ups could become three weight class champion. Def outside top 50 of all time, he's very overated right nowdays, he was a BW who was having a hard time making weight, possibly robbs DJ and beats Marlon who's getting smashed left and right since for a title and then beat old, rusty Cruz to defend his title, and then he's one of GOATs? One of the most ridiculous shit everr.

With that said, I think Cejudo might have a better chance against Volk than Yan, hell who knows how Fig vs Cejudo fight would go at FLW.

I think lot of 'Cejudo fans' haven't really followed his career in its entirety. I did. He's most definitely not one of GOATs, outside top 50 easy, but I digress.

But yeah Cejudo vs Yan/Volk would be a super fight. I bet he loses to both. Not sure who wins betwen Moreno/Fig vs Cejudo either.
