How many strangers would you let die to save your pet?

Not for me. I love dogs. I merely tolerate the vast majority of humans.
Ok. I think the overwhelming majority of time people say stuff like this is fantasy, though. I get it, we can't actually prove things either way, but its kind of like people saying they would or wouldn't do something for a million bucks. It's abstract and isn't an actual choice. If the actual decision were presented I think things would go very differently than many people think.

We need a second version to unmask how mental some are.

How many babys would you let die to save your pet?

I actually think this question is easy for most people here. I would imagine most view their pets as another version of children/ family with the emotional bond formed taking ownership of their well being.
I would imagine the harder question is some animals you don't know versus strangers.
I'm a dog lover and would gladly pick my dog over almost anyone I already know, but it would be more difficult for me to pick a bunch of animals over people in which I didn't know either.
I'd pick the people, especially if children were involved, but I'd still feel pretty fucking terrible.

Outside of a child or family member, i would pick my dog easily. And if you dont like it, tough shit

If you can only save one or the other, I'm imagining this is "The Good Son" scenario. Hanging from a cliff, stranger in one hand, kitty in the other, and I need both hands to save the stranger. This would be a different story if it were a dog, but of course my kitty isn't stupid, he knows how to climb up my arm and I don't have superhuman grip strength so the crying blubbering stranger realistically is going to die regardless of my intentions. Truthfully the longer I hold on to him, the better the odds that I'm going over the cliff too so this is more about self-preservation.

As far as endless strangers, I don't really understand that scenario enough to comment on it.

This is a "You can save one but not both" situation, not a "You are actively killing them" situation. If you take no action, your dog and x number of humans will both die.

My pets mean far more to our family than any strangers. Will leave it at that.

I would sacrifice half of mankind to save my cat if necessary.

Why ? They are going to take over soon and rule the world with an iron fist, and I'm always on the winning side !

Long live the the cat's empire !

You found small boat to escape the approaching zombie wave.

With your family and 3 pets the boat is at the water line and already at risk of sinking.

A mother and her 4 year old child approach. You can see they weigh about the same as your pets. Do you push out the pets and let them come with you, knowing they face certain death if you do not??
