I was gonna ask this ^^

It's crazy, not too long ago I was thinking to myself that I really don't have anonymity on here because there are too many Sherdoggers who know who I am IRL (at least on Facebook), and wondered if I should an hero this account and find a new place to post. But I wouldn't had known Eddie or what happened to him, and I'm glad we became friends off this site (virtual friends, but still friends).

The last time I remember chatting with him was a year or two ago, when he was locked out of his account and wanted me to message a mod (I think it was either Nostromo or CHL) about resetting his account info so he could log in. I'd see him post pics of his kids or his life on FB and now those things won't happen anymore. It's sad, makes me rethink how I act on this website because I can be a complete jerk at times.

Yeah , too easy to forget that there's an actual flesh and blood person on the other end of the line sometimes. Most all of us could stand to be a little kinder to each other , and less complacent about how tenuous this ride we are all on is.

Making legit friends with people here changed the way I went about things, as it did you. Most people here already have a common interest, martial arts, and we are all human so the similarities don't end there.

We may not all agree on politics, religion, music, fighters, etc. But we are all a part of a legit community, a close, tight knit community, and one of the best online communities on the internet.

I would have a beer with anyone who posts here. Even @Jesus Freak. Who apparently got banned.

We curse each other out, I don't hold grudges, we forget about it, and at some point we realize we have something in common and despite our differences can still be friendly. I've made a good deal of real life friends with posters off this website and some of them have become really good friends.

I try not to start anything with anyone but I don't tolerate it when people go after me. I usually just mock the hell out of them. I guess I should work on that, not going for the jugular when attacked by some random Sherdogger. A good portion of this site will be genuinely saddened if/when I pass, but a good portion will probably get banned from posting about their happiness at my passing. I guess some of that is my own fault, though.

I don't think you were around during my guido bashing days. I got plenty of threats during that whole fiasco. @Flemmy Stardust can back me up here.

Crazy thing is, I communicated with a few of those guys/girls and they were all nice. Made me feel pretty bad that I mercilessly and relentlessly went after them.

Unfortunately, Eddie's injuries have left him in a state in which he will not be able to sustain life without 24/7 medical support via a ventilator, tracheostomy, and feeding tube as he is paralyzed from the neck down. Today we were fortunate enough to be able to turn off all of the sedatives and have a discussion with Eddie regarding his wishes and whether he would want to live on life support. Eddie has decided that he would not want to live that way. Today we will be removing the ventilator and other support and administering medications to ensure that he is comfortable. Again, thanks to everyone for your support, love, and prayers. Please continue to pray for our family as we endure this very sad time.

On July 2nd, Eddie Cook was involved in a diving accident in which his spinal cord and cervical spine were injured. Unfortunately, Eddie's injuries have left him in a state in which he can not survive without the support of a ventilator and other medical equipment. Eddie and his family have decided to remove the ventilator and allow him to pass peacefully with his family at his side. Eddie has served the public for 9 years while working for Northstar Emergency Medical Services where he worked as a medic. He has dedicated his life to helping others and now it is our turn to help him! This fund will be used to help cover funeral expenses and any other expenses that Violet may need assistance with. Please donate whatever you can afford and continue to lift Eddie and his family up in your prayers!
