Depends on the metric. Like others have noted itt, you could get carded or instabanned for the tiniest infraction back in the day. You could mess about a bit, but the actual rules were enforced to Judge Dredd levels.
Today it's the other way around. The rules are much looser and less enforced, but mods suck more than ever and kinda play their role by ear.
Substance Abuse just removed all my posts in the Sinners thread, for example. And I don't even really know what his issue is. First he accused me of using a dog-whistle for black people, which I didn't. Then he started talking about keeping the thread clean of political derailment, which is weird when the theme of the movie is literally racism, then he just went ahead and removed every post. That shit would not fly back in the day. Mods could easily get demodded too. Mods have clearly gotten more shitlibby the last six or seven years.
