Genius is so rare that it isn't really a question of lineage. I read a book on intelligence once (Intelligence: a New Look by Hans Eysenck) and the researcher said that genius is so rare that it has never occured that a genius has had a child who is also a genius (by the criteria set up in the book anyway). Converesly, it has happened numerous times that a genius has appeared from a family of illiterate peasants with no prior history of intelligence.

The odds of having a genius child is basically a bit like rolling 6 on a dice toss 10 times in a row or maybe even less.

I dont know if a "smart" person would ever think working on gene editing is a way to improve humanity, as it might as well be a direction that takes us to self destruction, as its hapenning right now.

I dont think a brilliant mind would think in the direction you or most people nowadays think to begin with. Brilliant minds would work on very different things than the self destruction of humanity that most unaware humans are working on right now

Not necessarily. It’s not like there’s a gene that controls your intelligence. Why would there be? What would be the evolutionary purpose of having a gene that could potentially make an organism less intelligent than others? It’s more likely that a series of genes controls how the synapses in your brain are constructed. And there’s no guarantee that the recipe for Tesla’s brain wouldn’t be totally different with a synapse built one way instead of another. Or a couple of synapses.
