It's very safe to say we are in the money fight era and have been for a while now, and we can all thank Conor McGregor for that.

Just curious how long do you guys think we will be in this era?

Do you guys think the UFC will ever return to it's old ways of legitimacy and authenticity, or do you guys think we're stuck in this shit era for a very long time?

I personally think the day Dana White goes, that'll be the day the UFC may return back to the way we used to love it, considering a lot of the McGregor situation creating this money fight era had to do with Dana babying him and not having the balls to say no.

Bro its gonna be to the end of time, are you serious, it's just like in boxing it took forever for Andre and Kovalev, Canelo and GGG to fight, once you have hit this point in combat sports it can never reverse unfortunately

Bout tree fiddy

Lol.....MMA has just caught up to Boxing. Its gotten just as big now and the money is huge. When you got that kind of money shenanigans are going to happen. Its all about money/power. Always will be.

Gone are the UFC days of dudes fighting in casinos in front of 100 people.

How long will this "era" last?
Forever.

Last?
Is not going to end

As long as casuals keep demanding fights that ignore rankings it will continue

MMA has matured, now the hard core fan base isn't worth sht compared to the potential to capture the casuals. Expect anything to happen that maximizes revenue, regardless of perceived 'brand risk'. Everything will work itself out as long as the promotion gets paid and fighters kick ass and talk sht

Can't blame the casuals when it's the org itself pushing marketing shit into theyr throats

The other option was to educate fans, and ufc wanted none of that

I actually think it'll get way worse is Dana leaves and WME is left to make all the decisions. Shit...at this point I think even I would do a better job.

It will last until the money runs dry

For the most part I still like the UFC's product as much as it's criticized. 2015 was a great year and 2016 blew that out of the water. 2017 definitely hit a low, looking forward to the rest of this year.

Forever.

You’ll start seeing more divisions, more made up belts, more vacating and “mandatory” contenders getting the shaft. If another promotion makes a rise with a superstar or two, the old no-co-pro thing likely goes by the wayside as well for a quick buck.

Not your daddy’s UFC. Not our UFC. It will be like boxing. Current owners aren’t fans in the way the Fertitas were, and that’s a shame.

Agree mostly though some boxing orgs are stricter than others and strip a title if they don't fight the mandatory challenger. There are so many orgs in boxing that it does get confusing.

Once Ali act comes in (if it does), UFC and Bellator will have to change the way they operate anyway.

Well it’s called prizefighting.

So, forever.

Until WME breaks even to sell to another sucker.

There have only been a handful of money fights in the last few years. This is no era
