How is that Dana gives Julianna Peña the trilogy right away but doesn't want the same for Pereira?

I suspect that Nunes is retiring soon. Maybe this is the most desirable fight they could come up with before her official announcement. Or maybe the UFC doesn't care about Canada.

No, Alex was losing on the cards, not winning, before that 2nd round KO. Check your facts. They used his aggression against him. I want him to go avenge Glover, win the title, and do the rematch at LHW. Before a grappler gets a shot at him.

Dana never said he doesn't want the same for Alex.

Good lord, a bunch of you do not watch or read the interviews, and rely solely on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th hand accounts of other Sherdoggers who misreport shit, and then make a bunch of whiny threads that aren't even based on reality.

Lazy and stupid lot.

Dana white and being logical or merit based? He’s never been that way, why start now?

easy answer: nunes is a reasonable (by wmma standards) kind of small draw and torching figure in the division.

and she about to leave the sport soon.

izzy on the other hand has remainning potential to STILL

Wasn't it 5 minutes ago that people were foaming rabidly at the mouth about Pereira getting undeserved title shot TS? Jeebus wait 5 minutes will ya?

How are u gonna explain that?

Dana White gives Julianna the trilogy right away because he said she deserves it andmake it a PPV main event and everything

But when they asked him about giving Alex the trilogy he is like "oh he should move up to 205 and bla bla bla? What? Making excuses for what?

They are 1-1 in the UFC (3-1 in general for Alex). Pereira has been the only person able to beat Adesanya at middleweight, and he was winning before the KO and that was always the excuse they made for always making Alex fight this guy again after beating him "Oh Adesanya was winning" so why not the other way around ?

Also that's the most exciting to make in that division anyways, both fights have been for the edges

The only reason I see for Dana White not making the trilogy is because he is afraid to lose one of biggest names in the UFC right now as a champ, he knows Pereira would probably beat him again

I really believe he doesn't want the fight to happen because Alex wins and Adesanya rides off into the sunset and retires.

It's not just about protecting Izzy. I'd assume it's cuz you can throw Pena in the trash and no one will care, but Alex still has potential as a LHW contender.

Yep, it’s more of a marketing reason. Really no point to run it back again immediately. They can go at it again down the line if needed…

Pena has a long track record with the company that earns her favours that Alex has yet to earn.

This should be easy to see.

They like Izzy as champ. They brought in the other guy for the legit challenge and interest it would garner. The guy got the belt, which they hoped wouldn't happen. Now their guy got his revenge and is flying high and the VERY NEW guy is no longer champ.

He's not going to get the favour of an immediate rematch that other, more tenured fighters would get. He's not wanted as champ and he's also not owed any favours. They will move on and I think he understands that the trade off for being fast tracked to the title fight is he won't get special treatment after. If he worked his way through the division and paid dues, I could see this position but he didn't.

Another KO loss for Pereira will diminish what's left of his aura. The 185 weight cut is clearly not working out for him and his chin is suspect. Also he will need at minimum 6 months of recovery since his KO defeat to Adesanya was so brutal. Like sleeping out cold brutal. Adesanya is too active to wait around and will want to hop back in there before Alex is medically fit to train. In addition, Alex has used up his "glory kickboxing history" to get another titleshot. He failed to close to Adesanya chapter last Saturday unfortunately. You see UFC angling for a Khamzat MW title if he gets passed Costa. Alex has kind of been used up by the UFC to get some hype back to Adesanya. :D

The dumbest shit ever written.

185 "clearly not working" for Pereira?

The dude has literally fought at 185-187 for over a decade, was a Dual Champ in Glory, was undefeated in the UFC, KO'd Strickland, KO'd Izzy (the only man ever to have done so, twice at that weight), and was beating Izzy until he got caught.

You have to be dumb AF to say (for even think) 185 "isn't working" for Pereira.
