While Khalil put on a great showing, his best wins are still Smith who has double digit losses(20 in total) and Jacoby which was a razor close bout, Jacoby is also a fringe top fifteen fighter(unranked now tho)

Hill's resume isn't that good, but Khalil's isn't either and between the two Hill has the slight edge in that regard. However they should fight next, that would be a good one

Look at his competition, from his UFC debut was was fighting top 15 guys. Pretty sure the only person who wasn’t ranked was Bogdan Guskov, and Oezdemir finished him in one round.

I also believe they want to use him as a gatekeeper for the fun of it.
Man never backs down from a fight or a challenge after all and those fighters are very rare.

Regardless how you feel about the fight it doesn't change Rountree didn't deserve that title shot and he does not deserve to be elevated above fighters with better resumes because of a moral victory.

Because he started out on top and then started gradually slipping. Thats the answer for a lot of these "why are they ranked so high" questions.

The rankings are generally a joke but Hill’s win over Teixeira is better than any win Rountree has. And you generally don’t get a boost in rankings for losing a fight.

He smoked Petrino & beat Spann recently so it's not insane at all.

LHW is actually pretty cool if fighters are active. Ank/Rakic will be fun, Jan/Jiri & Hill/Khalil would be fun. Volkan/Ulberg, Krylov/Murzakanov, Reyes/Smith should all produce a meaningful & exciting outcome. Gusgov has been a solid addition as well.
