How is Dominick Cruz a 'boring' fighter?

Its much more entertaining and interesting watching 5 rounds of pure war (for example Dillashaw vs. Cruz) and being excited to see who wins when its a really close fight for example, not that it matters, its always entertaining to see person X to dominate person Y for 5 rounds as well, especially if there is beef behind it.

Dominick is known for his 'non vicious' strikes but his footwork and amazing timing replaces it (in my opinion) its pure art.

Who really wants to see 1 round knockouts?
UFC 194 Main Event for example:
We waited for it for like a year, when the 'biggest' fight starts, its over in 13 seconds, who wants to see that? almost nobody. Sure it was a legendary moment but other than that a big letdown.

I preferred Dillashaw vs. Cruz hands down over McGregor vs. Aldo

But i guess we all have our own preferences.

To me, his movement, angles, and defensive brilliance are like a work of art to behold.

His wrestling sort of reminds me of GSP. He can take down virtually anyone, by being in the right place at the right time.

He makes very good fighters look average.

Not boring to watch but not exactly exciting either.

Don't find him boring at all, but many fans prefer to see some damage and actual domination instead of dodge and jab.

As TheLuckiest said, no one hates mma more than mma fans.

I have to admit, I used to hate on Dom and his style, but in his absence I came to realize how much I appreciated his work. I hope the guy can stay healthy and continue to do his thing.

He is not boring but a point fighter no doubt...

You can like him. I like him, but I better not catch you fucks saying Demetrious Johnson is boring.

I like to see 1-round knockouts. if a fighter is skilled enough to do it, so be it.

Nonetheless Cruz is not in the least bit boring IMO

Yeah, I was kind of the same. I could certainly appreciate the effectiveness of his style, as I did with GSP, but I wasn't chomping at the bit to see him dance and jab around his next opponent. But I've grown to enjoy his fights more. Maybe his comeback story is part of winning me over.

My thoughts exactly. You beat me to it.

I laughed because it's true, it's really sad. I really never understood the hate he would get from the supposed "knowledgeable" or "hardcore" fans here.

Listen, I know cruz has been through a lot and has gotten many new fans because of it. but he is extremely boring to watch. Just about every single one of his fights go the distance, he always seems to squeak by with wins, often controversial. He moves around so much, barley landing anything. 99% of the time, barely outlanding his opponents...He is hard to watch...

The reason he's exciting is because he's out there with his hands at his sides and his opponent coming within centimeters of knocking his ass out the entire night. The shit is intense if you understand what you're watching

So are you also claiming that Dillashaw vs. Cruz was boring to watch?

He is without a doubt the most exciting non-finishing point fighter in the game today. Possibly in the history of the UFC.

Would love to see the most exciting finishing, executioner in the sport today, CM, do battle with the Decision8er at 145. As I think those are the two guys with the highest in-cage fight IQ in the entire promotion.

Only the just bleeders find Dom boring imo. While you'll never confuse him for an all action fighter, I really came to appreciate how he mastered his own style. Sometimes it can be hard to appreciate greatness. It's true absence makes the heart grow fonder.

Even GSP critics for the most part would be happy if he came back, point fighting and all. When Georges fought it always felt like an event, like it mattered. I felt the same way watching Cruz vs Dillashaw. Years in the making.

I also don't care much for Luke Thomas mostly, but something he said rang true. The only way you can come back and do what Dom did is to be ahead of your time. I always thought more people should try to take elements of what he did and use it to their own success.

Dom proved to be phenomenal, boring or not, can't take away that performance. The snake in the grass gave Barao 2 vicious beatings, a guy people thought was untouchable. After a minute of fighting in like 50 months, Cruz went 5 hard rounds with one of the better fights pound for pound. Don't see how people can't marvel in that. Afuckinmazing.

Most people honestly just want to a human version of rock em sock em robots. They really don't care mma. They want legalized brutality.

Cruz is an outstanding, dynamic fighter and I love watching him fight... BUT, as a connoisseur of the KTFO, I would hate it if everyone had his "float like a butterfly, sting like a butterfly" style.

Many think he is boring because he rarely KOs or drops opponents and he moves around almost not stop. Seems most want to watch a toughman tournament.
I do not think he is a boring fighter.
