Damn, I disagree with just about every single one of your points. Some are factually incorrect, no opinion needed.
The part about no reason to go to college is just wrong. College graduates still make considerably more than non-college graduates.
And this is a yearly income difference. Over a lifetime, the difference compounds.
And when you look at net worth (total assets minus debt), the difference is even more stark.
And of course, this doesn't even take into account the type of work that each group does. Most of the non-college grads that are making decent money are doing physically uncomfortable, grunt work. Yeah, you can be a top A/C technician or whatever but you have to climb into hot/cold ass attics for hours on end for a living. Good luck doing that starting in your late 40s. Meanwhile, people can do office work well into their 60s and even 70s.
You're right that PhD students make very little but to them it's completely worth it. They're passionate about their work and when they do start work, they do just fine economically, like the above chart shows.
