I haven't heard any types of noise coming out of Jackson's camp talking about BJ being a world beater out there or overly impressing anyone since he has been training there. He has been there a while now. Usually if an unusual character like that joins a new camp, you usually hear some sort of ramblings about how good they are in sparring or how impressed everyone in the gym and the coaches are. That doesn't mean it may not be happening, but as a Penn fan that worries me some. I really don't want to see BJ take another embracing loss like that again.

I also sit back and wonder if he has just enough left in the tank to allow the best trainer in the business help out his career the way he has done with so many other struggling fighters that were stacked with talent. We usually see so many guys turn things around really well at Jackson's camp. Not all of them, but most guys really pick up their game. I just wish that BJ would have done this years ago, before taking so much time off between those unnecessary beatings he created for himself against Diaz and Rory. Frankie is the last guy you want to fight after a year and a half lay off. I don't care who you are.

This will be a very interesting fight in my opinion for BJ. I just hope he wins and retires for good.

I really doubt he will improve substantially. I think he would of beaten Siver but I don't think he's a threat to elite fws.

People like to point to late career resurgences in the heavier weight classes but the lighter weight classes are so reliant on speed a past his prime fighter is unlikely to excel

Everything is working out for Penn. He got extra time to train, now he gets to fight a late replacement.

I'm telling you guys, Greg is gonna give us the best BJ we've ever seen.

War Banner BJ!

I was excited, until I saw Pettis vs Barboza. Penn said that he has actually lives in ABQ, training there months before the fight was signed, so I'm hoping the transition translates more than what Pettis showed us.

It's been 3 months. Expecting any actual improvement in skill is ridiculous.

What Jackson/Wink could do is help with conditioning and gameplanning

Agree 100%. Solid post.

At one point He had the skills to compete with today's fighters, in his proper weight division. The question is, what does he have left physically and have does skills eroded.

AKA the McGregor. Oddly enough if BJ wins they might make that his next fight because $$$

As long as his conditioning is on point I still see him as a major threat to any sub-top5 featherweight. Seriously...
His skill and his fight IQ is still very much intact I believe.

he will be like the second coming of jesus and destroy all those before him
