How good is Marvin Vettori?

Hes good and basically has built a name off giving Adensaya a tough fight before he became champ.

I think he has a good future, will at the very least be one of those guys that stays top 10 for a long time. Not sure if I am convinced hes champ material though. Well fighters evolve all the time....so if he looks impressive against Jack it will definitely change things. Will get him in the top 5 and a potential title shot

- Strong
- Tidy cardio
- Strong wrestling / grappling
- Rudimentary striking / little punching power
- Quite slow.

I think he's actually tailor-made for Hermansson's skillset to be honest.

He's not a special talent like Izzy, but he's very underrated, and I think he has a chance to beat Jack Hermansson this weekend if his cardio is on point. He has an overall more well rounded MMA skillset, whereas Jack is very much just grappling focused, however Marvin's inexperience in 5 round fights and his cardio do worry me. People say his cardio is great, but he's never fought in a 5 round fight, and I can see this fight being high intensity.

I don't think Vettori has the one shot power to put Jack away, so I'll have to go with Hermansson in this one as I think he is a tricky fighter who can tire Marvin out, but Vettori is a very underrated fighter.

Hermansson was a 2-1 favorite to beat Holland.

Vettori is currently favoured on the betting lines to beat Hermansson.

That's how good Vettori is.

Vettori certainly is a harder matchup than holland, but I still favor jack. I might need to pull my wallet out while the odds are still like that

My brother thinks vettori is a better striker than jack too, but I don't really see it, especially as the fight goes on. I think it will be close on the feet.

With the current MW landscape, hes borderline top 5 or Tier 2

Tier 1 - Izzy, Costa, Cannonier, Whitaker, Romero

Tier 2 - Vettori, Gasteleum, Hermannson, Til, Weidman

Tier 3 - Brunson, Sean Strickland, Edmen, Jacare, Akhmedov

Tier 4 - Tavarez, Jotko, Carlos Jr, Heinsrich, Branden Allen

He is good and he may fight for a world title 1 day but i dont think he is gonna win it

He is younger than anyone currently in the Middleweight Top 10, so he has that going for him.

I know a lot of people are high on him but I don't really see it. Like his is okay in all he does and his wins don't really suggest he is a worldbeater. But I honestly would like some honest opinions on how good he is especially with this upcoming Hermanssen fight.
I recall thinking he beat Adesanya, or was atleast close.

He got outgrappled by Akhmedov. He is good and has never been finished but he's mainly hyped because of the Izzy fight

Actually, he got outstruck by akhmedov for two rounds, then won the 3rd. If anyone had grappling success in that fight it was vettori, who had akhmedov in a kimura and a triangle.

Time will tell.I think he has allot of potential.

Adequate but not spectacular kickboxing, very solid wrestling, and some pretty dangerous BJJ. His cardio is quite impressive as well for a guy with no five-round experience in the UFC as of yet, though his footwork is a bit plodding at times.

I feel like he has more tools to challenge Jack than Kevin did (at least in the grappling department)... but ultimately I favor the Joker. I think Jack is going to stick him with that stiff jab -- maybe even double up on it while being patient and circling the cage until Marvin gets frustrated and shoots on him, gets reversed, and ends up on the bad end of a grappling exchange. This could just be me talking out of my ass, though. This is a fairly close fight and Marvin is a good fighter who could easily pull of a win of his own. Loads of potential, plus he has a fire under him -- he feels he was wronged in the Izzy fight and this fight is his best shot at getting a fast track to the throne to rectify that error.

Cordeiro's next Champ. (Wand, Shogun, RDA, Werdum, plus he laid the foundation for Cyborg & Anderson)

"Journeyman" and "top 5" don't belong in the same sentence. 99.999% of fighters won't become champions ever, that doesn't make them journeyman.

Especially for a guy with only two losses, one of them to the current champ. A journeyman is an average fighter who splits wins and losses for most of their career and never makes it to the top 10. Someone like Joe Lauzon.

Vettori is a prospect. Maybe he'll end up a journeyman but he's not now.

I meant that he is currently a journeyman. But since he's only 27, I assume he'll get better and eventually be top 5 at best. That'll be how far he goes in his career IMO.

We are about to find out in this weekend. But I think hermansson would beat him pretty comfortably
