How good were the Diaz brothers? Are they considered elite fighters in your eyes? Who would win in a fight between them?

Nick in his prime was great, not "a great." I feel like both thought too highly of their BJJ so didn't train like they should have for takedown defense and sometimes didn't even try because they were good off their backs. It worked a lot of the times but most of their losses came when it didn't work.

Certainly elite or near elite at certain times in their careers. Nick weaponized pace in a way that no other MMA fighter had really done before, and honestly put boxing combinations together with the exact oomph needed to make contact without taking anything out of his tank, but constantly opening his opponent up more and more.

I don't think there's any question that he was the better fighter, or at least the one with the most upside.

Yes they were both elite fighters in their primes. Not necessarily the best wrestlers but had great BJJ and decent striking (They weren't KO artists but they were good at pressuring with striking and high volume striking) Although Nick had better boxing than Nate. In terms of where I would rank them as a good fighter I wouldn't put them in the General GOAT Discussion or anything but they were good enough that I would probably put Nick and Nate in the top 30 GOAT of their weight classes (LW for Nate and WW for Nick).

They both have had some amazingly entertaining fights. Wrestlers seemed to be their kyrptonite, but they beat some elite fighters in their prime, and lost to lesser opponents. They're fun as hell to watch, regardless if you are rooting for or against them.

I think Nick was the superior fighter, a little bigger, more technical boxing, more volume and very similar grappling styles. At his peak Nick was an elite level fighter who fell short of proving it, Nate was a high level fighter who was tough and skilled enough to hang with them. Both may not be the most decorated but still some find themselves among absolute legends of the sports and both have some unforgettable historical moments in the sport.

It's pretty insane how similar their styles and careers were, been a fair few siblings in MMA and very few had comparable styles and careers. Good genetics.

They're two of the most influential fighters in modern mma history. Skill wise, they were very good, bordering on great. But their attitudes lost them a lot of winnable fights over the years, which lead to taking unnecessary damage and both slowing down dramatically over time.
