He's the first fighter we've seen other than champs Cruz and Mighty Mouse to have a win over Joe B. And he seems to be progressing impressively in striking. That said, his last fight against Cejudo seemed reminiscent of Anthony Pettis's fight with Clay Guida; he showed the severe susceptibility to wrestling based pressure fighters is still there. Anthony Pettis got as far as a modern fighter conceivably could without effective takedown defense and the ability to strike while dealing with a fighter pressuring forward and/or looking to clinch. Sergio may be doomed to the same fate if he doesn't very quickly learn from where Anthony went wrong. And if he does, than maybe he can become a truly, consistently elite contender. What is the most likely route?
