how far can Alexander Romanov go in HW's

decent wrestler, qualified for world's many times but never had quite the athletic ability to go far, he has impressive pressure & overall grappling skills for a heavyweight and has been looking better and more mature from a physical standpoint, but i still reckon he's too slow and also has a suspect gas tank

his wrestling match against the 2nd best wrestler on the world Taka Akgul from last year:

lost 8-0

And who is the first one? Russian Tank? :)

The next wave of HW's isn't looking all that bad right now

Sakai, Aspinall, Romanov, Gane, Pavlovich, Boser, Daukaus all of them have some impressive skills with some power and are fairly young for the HW division.

Daukaus is the *oldest of that group at age 31 so considering HWs have peaked late 30's some into their 40's things are gonna get interesting over the next few years

*edit freudian slip

looks good

Out of all those, only Romanov, Gane, and Pavlovich have any real promise. Sakai arguably lost to an old Arlovski, Daukaus has lost to several regional-level guys before, and Boser is 0-4-1 against fighters from the former USSR. Maybe Aspinall is for real, but we wouldn't know unless he fights a real heavyweight rather than some blatantly blown up middleweight/LHW. Even Romanov might not make it too far unless he improves his ground and pound.

Pavlovich lost to old ass Overeem.

Like a lot of people here I don't think he'll go far. Seems to lack athleticism and power though he is young and has decent wrestling.

Sakai for example is still only age 28 and has already proven he can crush cans consistently enough to get a fight vs a top 5 HW in Reem. The overall point of my comment is the youth of the group for the HW division.

At no point did I claim they are locks to be champs or even defeat the best of a very thin HW division, only that there is promise. All of them have yet to hit their prime so I would expect improvements from each and every one of them. We obviously dont know right now about any of them which is why I mentioned the next few years could be interesting

sorry i didn't specify, i was saying 2nd best at heavyweight, 1st being Geno Petriashvili who recently beat Taka by criteria and won the last 3 world championships

but i agree Russian Tank is the best wrestler in the world right now :)

Overeem still about top 5~ and as far as skills goes he's definitely top 3, in my opinion no shame there, Reem is also really good, maybe the best in the division in the area where Pavlovich lacks the most (clinch)
