How does the USADA testing work for fighters outside of the US?

Wasn't José tested by a local Brazilian?

That's why you go to thailand to get that muay thai nice and sharp.

@dimspace will have concrete answers, but as I understand it, they cooperate with the country's local sports testing agency to coordinate sample collection. If there isn't one local, they send someone.

Also, you can't hide in the mountains. USADA has to know your whereabouts at all times basically, and if you're not where you say you are, you get warned. I think more than once or twice is a pretty stiff penalty.

Do they actually fly someone over to randomly test that athlete?

No, they use the national anti doping agency in that country to collect and analyse the samples on their behalf.

So a fighter in Brazil needs tested, USADA call ABCD (Brazilian anti doping), get them to do it
McGregor needs testing, they call Sport Ireland, they do it
If they need Bisping testing, they use UKAD
French fighter needs tested, AFLD
etc etc

All the agencies they use are partners in subscribing to the WADA code

Yes. That happen to McGoat in Dublin

No, he was tested by Sport Ireland

But sometimes they get stopped because of lack of valid identification

Thats under the remit of RUSADA

They having kind of a rough time at the moment though.

bahah rough time is understating it. didnt all track and field athletes from russia get banned from the next olympics?

I don't believe the USADA has ever had a problem with that most likely because they hire people who understand where to place an X on a form.

So if you want to roid up you should go train high up in Wudang mountain. You'll hear about the USADA agent coming a few days in advance when they start their trek up the mountain. Plenty of time to prepare your peepee

Russia still operates so gangster. Crazy.

Wikipedia:
In February 2016 two high-rank directors of the organisation — Vyacheslav Sinyev and Nikita Kamaev — have died. According to Sunday Times, Kamayev approached the news agency shortly before his death planning to publish a book on "the true story of sport pharmacology and doping in Russia since 1987"

Following allegations made by German broadcaster ARD in 2014, WADA commissioned a report into doping and associated corruption in Russian athletics. The report, published in November 2015, was highly critical of RUSADA and the All-Russia Athletic Federation (ARAF), as well as singling out several individuals for doping offences. It concluded that RUSADA was under improper influence from the Russian Ministry of Sport. They further alleged that the agency and its employees athletes gave advance notice of tests to athletes and “routinely” took bribes to cover up doping.[7][8]

On 18 November 2015 WADA suspended RUSADA, meaning that Russia does not have a functioning NADO for any sport.

This is correct. Conor talked about the system still being flawed before the Aldo fight. I believe CABMMA tested Aldo on behalf of USADA and the Irish Sports Council did the same for Conor.

When they were in the States they got tested by USADA. Collecting someone's piss and blood randomly isn't the greatest job in the world, but if there's people from a sporting governing body of the fighter's country, it still seems a bit iffy.

USADA is a corrupt American organization.

American fighters are using steroids all the time.

@dimspace it seems you are an authority on the subject.
Can you explain the warning system regarding UFC fighters. if they are not where they are suposed to be. how many times in a year can they say oops without consequences? and if they exceed the warnings what is the penalty???

Just like olympic testing the athletes are allowed to provide a few false locations prior to being punished. This is a highly manipulated part of the procedure.
