How does prime semmy schilt do with todays UFC?

Jones isn't carrying too much extra weight at 225.

25 lbs is diet, water and a collonic for that guy. And swells back up

He wrecks shop. Prime schilt in kickboxing is the most accomplished HW kickboxer, and he did it in a relatively short career.

Even in MMA, he dropped a lot of fights in Pancrase, but that's just what you did. in MMA, he did good work in PRIDE up until Fedor, and even then, Fedor struggled to do anything but take him down, Schilt's control on the bottom was very good. He has a ton of skills that fighters in MMA period aren't bringing the the table, let alone heavyweights.

Rank him

If Semmy had been good enough to stay in MMA, he would have.

The takedown nullified his reach exploitation.

It is good to see his name getting popped up..he was one of the best HW kick boxers and I think he would knock the head off anyone who wanted to strike ...good wrestlers would give him trouble..but whatever man....semmy vs choi hong man was one of the most exciting fight at that time for me hah

yeah, why go fight in kickboxing, win grand prixs and make millions of dollars doing it when you can stay in MMA. He left MMA because he wasn't very good at it.

Ignore that he fought MMA part time until 2009 and his kickboxing career started in 2002. He fought an MMA fight like 2 months before he won his second grand prix.

Lol at people looking back at Schilt with rose-colored glasses.

Anyone worth a damn in MMA he lost to.

Unless he catches a guy with a knee coming in, everyone with average wrestling would have "wrecked shop" on him.

"Prime" or otherwise.

People try to diminish Bones' accomplishments because of his reach, but Schilt in K-1 is the epitome of a guy that would not have done nearly as well with a normal height/range.

Forget about MMA. Lol

Only in striking. Struve is better than Semmy on the ground from what we've seen from Semmy in MMA. Not to mention BJJ credentials

By a narrow margin. Striking is a wide gap and its not as easy to get schilt down as people would believe. Let alone hurt him there. 4 good wrestlers in today's top 15

Werdum (0-1) lose due to BJJ
Jones: (0-1) lose due to wrestling
Cormier (0-1) lose due to wrestling
Cain: (0-1) lose due to wrestling
Stipe (1-0) possible win if kept standing
JDS (1-0) possible if standing
Hunt (1-0) definite win
Overeem (1-0) sure win
Arlovski (1-0) Sure win
Rumble (0-1) lose to wrestling
Browne (1-0) sure win
Rothwell (1-0) definite win

I have him 7-5

Against just HWs I have him 6-2

I think he'd do very well in his Prime in the current UFC HW division. I think during the AA, Sylvia, Buentello, Eilers and Cabbage age he would have been the champ.

Possibly, but he wasn't carrying too much extra weight at 290.
Weight cutting isn't about losing any extra weight. It's about dehydration. Most UFC fighters cut 15-25 of water for the weigh ins.

Ian McCall cuts 25 lbs of water to make 125, GSP cuts 25 lbs to make 170, Rumble cuts 25 lbs to make 205. Don't tell me a 290 lbs fighter can't cut 25 lbs to make 265.

I don't believe rumble can beat him in a five round fight. I agree with the rest of your assessment.

But I would say it's also likely he rocks the fuck out any of the guys you list as victories. Still agree

How do you think Tyson fury does with a sprawl out of curiosity?

I realize that. He was usually in the mid 290s, so a water cut would be possible if he had someone coach him to do it properly. Depends on the individual as well. I'm sure Brock was cutting from the 280s when he was fighting.

He was like a cheat code in K-1 and it must have been frustrating as fuck trying to fight him

IS that Mark Hunt???? :eek::eek::eek:

Kahotonov vs schilt was just brutal and I think schilt survived the whole round and it got stopped between rounds.
Every shot of those hammer fists were loud and it went on a long time.

If he dedicated himself he would do well
