Khabib has problems making 155, how does he fair @ 170 when he moves up in the near future.

They simply need to make a division between 155 and 170, those are the two most stacked divisions and it would help a lot of guys out who are too big or too small for one or the other and are either undersized or killing themselves with weight cuts.

I think he would do well, and not having this huge cut would be good for him.

But what weight 160-165?

They should bring up all the weights below Welterweight by 5 lbs.

130 FLW
140 BW
150 FW
160 LW
170 WW

I really don't believe the "165" division is going to be effective. If fighters were going to move to 165 from 155, they'd already be fighting at 170. On the other hand the 15 lb jump from LW to WW is insane. So best option is to just adjust the divisions that are already there, they keep their name and lineage intact but get modified. They already did it before when the Unified Rules got implemented.

Yea was thinking that would be a good idea.

Just wish khabib would get his TS so he can move up to WW and beat woodley.

He could have very well gotten his diet and things in order,he looks better from what I can tell and the weight seems to be on point. So saying he will move up to 170 in the near future is something you're totally just assuming.Hell even assuming he'll be back in the cage in the near future after Saturday (if he gets to it) is a big roll of the dice.I think his weight problems have been more a case of discipline and he lets himself go to far.

As for the adding of 165 and 175,i'm all for it despite the fact that I tend not to like too much change.Either way,it's up to the UFC and not the commish and Dana has adamantly denied that as a possibility any time soon.I couldn't start to say how I think he'd do at 170 we don't even know how he'll look vs the elite 155'ers since he never fights and injuries could permanently effect his performances. One thing at a time jeez.

That's actually smart, good post. I was going to say 170 to 185 is still a huge gap, but it appears to me that based on facts it almost always the lighter guys having trouble making weight. You don't see that many guys having issues making WW.

It's always WW trying to go down to LW. Guys from WW moving up to LHW seem to do alright (Whitaker) even when they are undersized (Gastelum).

How would a fighter do it he wasn't dehydrating his body for a week straight after over training for 6-8 weeks?

Geez, idk... he WOULD be slightly smaller then his opponent....

Size doesn't matter, weight cuts are stupid. Khabib does very well at 170. Prolly even better

Yea. It's weird more people seem to struggle with the 15 pounds of 170-155 over 185-170.

I'm guessing it has to do with being leaner, people need to reemember not having to cut means their gas tank will usually be better.

Whittaker and gastelum performances show size isnt everything (even in the Weidman loss, gastelum was 30 seconds away from getting the finish).

Khabib seems to be very fooking strong so it's will balance it self out, the way he rsgdolls every 155'er makes me think can do the same to the top guys at 170.

Good idea, I don't think the fighters themselves would oppose this.

I agree with ya. Yeah, I was thinking few hours ago that he'd do well. Like if he would go against Woodley, that would be a very interesting match up. Like Woodley is too jacked to make 155, but he's got the same frame. Like Khabib can wrestle a bear, hahaha.. so he would def. do ok in terms of strength at 170 and being heavier to be stronger.

Chins seem to hold up well when they move up, people forget speed kills!

Khabib isn't a Conor who would struggle with a Tyrone because of the size and wrestling..

Just seems the game these days is cut as much weight as you can... God damn remember rumble cutting to 170.

Yeah, that was crazy. Dude today probably can't even make 205 haha

Not exactly weird, because it's a greater percentage of their body weight when it comes to the lower divisions. Its the same reason why the gaps between the divisions at lower are smaller than those at higher divisions. Same in boxing. Much harder for them to cut weight.

Imo he would collect a few solid wins, out working and smothering some welterweights but struggle against the bigger guys with decent grappling (Maia, Colby, Tyron). Although he is a top notch grappler, I think his size advantage at LW is a large factor in his dominance in that department.
