How does Jose Aldo have the best TDD in MMA history even though he never wrestled in HS or college?

Aldo uses a pivot method to avoid take downs. He has an insanely fast and effective pivot and even if you take him down he's getting up the split second he touches the mat he is half way back up.

If you watch Aldo fight, he's always pivoting.

he's lost a step since the mcgregor knockout tho that's for sure. I think he dominated Edgar because he has him figured out. Same with Lamas, he should easily win that fight. Getting slept in 13 seconds when you hadn't lost in 10+ years has gotta be a blow.

No he hasn´t. He lost to Max Holloway who´s absolutely on fire.... but Aldo arguably won the 1st and 2nd rounds, then he ran out of gas and got TKOed. When you´re fighting that high caliber fighter, anything can happen.
 
Probably trained the shit out of TDD knowing he didn't want to spend a lot of time fighting off his back

lol, the guy's been a pro since he was 17 and a BJJ black belt. Do you cans really think he was born with god tier TDD or got it from soccer?
 
he and (especially) gsp have many many years of tdd training at this point. gsp with world level wrestlers.
 
He has a black belt in Luta Livre which is a catch wrestling/Judo hybrid.

In other words, he worked hard to obtain those skills.
