How do you guys still watch wrestling?

Like most I started watching the rasslin' as a kid, it became something I did. And has always been part of my things to do. It's never .....well this isn't this ot that.....I simply do not care, this is pro rasslin' something totally unique and I love it.

The history of it all is amazing, all those territories, all those colorful personalties, gotta love it and I do.

It can never physically be as good as it was in the late 90s. Too many things happened and it was the perfect mix of pop culture, good talent, real personalities, and a different culture

you’ve already seen the best matches you’ll ever see with guys like Shawn Michaels who could tell a story and make things mean something

you’ll never get shit more death defying than Mankind being thrown off HIAC

It can never be as authentic as it once was due to different times. Wrestlers back then lived a rock and roll lifestyle which came out in their personalities in the ring. That, or they were legitimately doing it to support their family and has actual respect for the business.

Now all wrestlers are teenie bopper crybabies who used to be passionate fans and think they know what other people want to watch without giving any respect to the fundamentals of what pro wrestling was. It’s all just flippy dumb shit with no story and then repeat weekly. Guys like the young bucks or Dean Ambrose would have gotten their shit pushed in by the vets if they pulled the diva antics they do today

So honestly, why do you watch it? Do you think it’ll just improve one day? I can understand the pureso style of Japan, they still respect their own style over there

FYI I don’t watch anymore because it’s unbearable, I’ll every now and then check in to see if any big news happened or vets make an appearance or something. Wrestling was basically my life from 1996 to 2005ish. And now the idea of sitting through a 3 hour RAW or AEW seems borderline inhumane

I mean that's like saying you've already seen the best movies you'll ever see so why ever watch another one? Or you've already heard the best music you'll ever hear so why listen to any more?

Pro wrestling is one of the only purely American art forms; along with comic books, hip hop and jazz music it's one of the only art forms that had it's roots and later mainstream/worldwide success and popularity originating from the good old US of A.

Yes. And?

I mean... yes. And?

How do these answer the question the OP asked?

I hung on about 15 years longer than I should. But over the past 3 years it has completely diminished to the point where I dont even have it on in the background. It is completely stupid and I just couldnt insult my intelligence anymore. The only time i see it now is if it comes up on my facebook feed

Honestly, I got out of prison recently and a CO there was friends with Dustin Rhodes (Goldust) and was telling me about AEW and the remnants of CZW with the David Arquette vs Nick Gage death match.
I was a huge fan of WCW and ECW as a teen in the late 90's, DDP was my favorite.
So I got out the joint, watched the Nick Gage shit, started doing the DDP Yoga and I felt like" ok there is still something to this" ...
AEW is definitely not perfect, I love Paul Heyman, Jim Cornette, and Jim Ross, but thank the fucking Holy Lord that there is at least something left to compete with the Vincent K Trump supporter fuckery.... All Hail Tony Fucking K

Amen

But you're a normal human being.
You described it to a tee. I was mega fan from about 1988 to 2002.
Then MMA took over, and pro wrestling as an industry died.
People who still watch mostly have some issues and trying to relive their childhoods or something.
The corpse of pro wrestling is just living off the memory of a memory at this point.
There's certainly better things to do with your life then sit through an hour, let alone 3 hours of that shit today.
