How do you go from fighting a 50 ranked fighter to the #2 or 3 ranked WW? Kasamat vs Edwards

The bottom line is that if Khamzat beats Edwards, the line jumping complaint will become moot. However, if he somehow loses, confusion and turmoil will ensue.

Meer was ranked #25 acc to Tap

Happens in all fight sports.
This doesn't really happen in boxing, as a matter of fact a boxer's own management and promotional team will make an effort to bring a fighter up rather slowly and make sure he's ready for the next step before throwing him to the wolves. They don't want to risk getting an L and damaging a fighters reputation

It’s not a matter of Khamzat beating Edwards, anyone can have a good night and anyone can have an off night.

Earning big opportunities is what is at hand and Khamzat is being given a turkey and it ain’t even Thanksgiving yet.

He's never fought somebody ranked as HIGH as 50 in that division. I don't think the guy he fought was even in the top 200..And I'm being serious. He's had 1 UFC fight in that division.

He fought a rank 23 in Gerald in a different division.

It's an absolute clown show and easily the most embarrassing thing I've ever seen in 5 decades of watching sports.

Followed closely by Conor being ranked at all. Funny how closely in time, one follows the other, eh?

You’re asking the wrong question. The question is how Edwards can be ranked #2 or #3 when he barely has a top 10 win. The guy is as overrated as they come - skilled, but he has never proved how skilled he is.

I don’t see a problem with a prospect fighting someone ranked, if they aren’t as good as some thought he will lose and the ranked fighter will have gotten a good win against a prospect/popular fighter. It’s not like Chimaev is fighting for the belt, he’s fighting a lower end top 10 fighter who for some reason sits at #2.

Furthermore, we need more fighters like Chimaev. Someone who doesn’t just talk, but actually fights frequently and willingly. The very few fighters like this that can also back it up will always, and rightfully so, get pushed ahead of duckers like Edwards.

It doesnt matter Khamzat will be Champion in 2021. Alhamdullilah. Account bet with anyone. Khamzat vs anyone, any weight, anytime.

This.

Khamzat is talented, but still, it shows the UFC is not a legit sport. You can’t just go to the NBA finals because you’re exciting and show great potential.
NBA is a team sport which has a defined season and set number of games.

Which of those things apply to MMA?

Ask yourself this question:
Which number is higher? The number of the top UFC fighters you can fit into an octagon stacked like a pyramid before they fall out or the number of top UFC fighters Khamzat can simultaneously destroy?
The correct answer? Khamzat is the GOAT. That's the correct answer.

But you can get to the NBA finals in 6 months. It's going to Khamzat an entire year. NBA isn't even a real sport.

I dont even know who Kasamat beat to deserve the Edwards fight and now he is getting the #2 or 3 fighter in the UFC in Edwards. Magny was calling him out about 1 or 2 months before he got the Edwards match and then the UFC, Dana and Kasamat have the audacity to say he is a ducked fighter when in fact Magny has been calling him out. This dude is having the easiest path to a title shot ever. Easier than Conors.
funny thing is conor's path was no easier than aldo's other contenders.

khamsat will either win, validating his fast track, or lose.

potential, and the way you win, matter. always have.

Hype and whoever the UFC wants to promote. I would guarantee anybody on Earth that if Khamzat would have beaten his 3 UFC opponents in a more typical time frame that he would not be ranked as high as he is. Put 3-5 months between those fights and he wouldn't be fighting Edwards. Guaranteed.

you can start and win mvp as a rookie.......

I don't see why defeating a 11-15, 6-10, and 1-5 can't be the standard road to a title shot. If you want to talk about being taken seriously as a sport, these fast tracks aren't a way to gain support.

True, but those young cats weren’t given rookie status based on popularity, marketability and victories against unproven talents. They have unquestionable, elite skill.

Khamzat is talented, has a long martial arts history, but his big fight with Leon was handed to him. There are people more deserving than him, it’s not a question of if he’s talented or not. Or if he’s champ material, it’s line-cutting combined with being unproven.

NBA, MLB or NFL rookies are scouted to the 9th degree.

I’m talking a conceptual comparison, not exact comparison. The general logic still applies.
