What's your neck routine? I'm just looking to bulk mine up, but I've never seriously trained my neck. I used to have a really old Frank Shamrock training video, and he would put a towel on the floor, do a back arch and put the top of his head on the towel, and basically swivel it all around slowly. I never tried it because it didn't seem too safe lol. Frank was pretty adamant that having a strong neck would help prevent ko's in fights/training, and I'd have to agree. It's just smart imo to have as strong a neck as possible. And personally I just want to build mine up.

How do you train the neck?

Bridging, neck harness, anything that builds your traps will help as well.

I used the neck harness for a little, but job reading up saw that deadlifts worked the neck more than enough, so i stopped isolating.

I had a book called prison strength or something like that. There was a neck routine in there which I've done for years now.

I guess it works, I haven't heart my neck yet lol.

If you read jack dempseys boxing book,he has two great exercises...one is a more beginer friendly bridge that really hits the back of neck super good... Also can't go wrong with a neck harness doing neck curls ..

Just have your dad give you some left hooks

Heavy deads, BB rows, bridges, and shrugs every now and then

I used to do a lot of bridges, front and back, plus isolation exercises where I'd lie on a bench with my head hanging off the end and a weight on my forehead and try keeping my chin tucked to my chest.

Lots of good info. Never did many neck exercises, my neck just naturally got bigger from wrestling back in the day.

Nobody said suck more penis?

When I started bjj the neck drills were straight torture. Up, down, left, right, side to side, a, b, a, b start

Listen to, and enjoy metal.

this is actually good advice. most death metal musicians have thick necks from nothing but headbanging like morons. look at george fisher.

i do slow neck nods in all directions and made very good progress with weighted isos against a wall.

also i feel overhead presses work the front part of the neck pretty good, so dont focus on strong pulling only.

I guarantee Henry Rollins hasn't needed to neck bridge once.

I have a neck as thick as my head+, I put it down to years going to gigs, my neck would be destroyed the next day.
