How did we as fans get so consumed about ppv numbers, fighters salary, tv ratings, etc?

I have fallen victim to it as well. Why do we give a shit about anything except the fights and why do we fixate on the financial side of the sport, which has zero relevance to the fans? Who cares what ppv numbers ufc 200 will do.

Its only a certain fanbase (You know who you are) that care about it.

the main fucking main event of 200 featuring MMA's most popular fighter(maybe ever) just got cancelled because of money what do you mean it has zero relevance to the fans?

Happens in every sport.. The media covers what the NBA playoff ratings are or world series ratings.. And how much yoenis cespedes contract is worth... because people find it interesting.

The one who cares about who good the sport is doing and who help with it the most.

I got more into on it when they didn't had a single star not long ago. They where doing really shit and the sport looked like it was past it best.

" We " didn't. Ask Ronda, and Conor fans.

Fans should be upset about the cancellation, im in 100% agreement with that. However, who cares whether or not the ppv buys will be as good.

Because 99% of humans are fucking idiots.
As a fucking idiot, I'll attest to this.
Although funnily enough I don't really care about PPV buys or salaries.

I never argue about salaries. That's the fighters job, and when they are fighting for better pay, I don't say shit about it even if it screws up an event or two.

The more immersed you become in a hobby, the more you'll want to know about it. It's natural.

When Conor and to a lesser degree Ronda lost, some people still needed a way to crow about how their fighter was still "better" than the fighter that just beat them or other fighters who had not lost recently.

If you can't say you win the most, then winning doesn't matter....money does. If some boxer wins and makes more money, then try to show how money per second matters.

Once you become an adult, Money matters guys. No reason to ignore it.

And yes as UFC is doing well financially I'd like the fighters to do well financially

Sorry, but you can't pin this on McG and Ronda fans. MMA fans have been obsessed with fighter pay and PPV sales since long before those 2 were around.

because those metrics are synonymous with value/quality of the entertainment

a better card draws in more casual viewers, more casual viewers creates more fans, more fans/better ratings generate more revenue for the ufc, more money gives the fighters more money, more money for the fighters increases the talent pool, etc
