How did Last Jedi get such a high rotten tomatoes score?

rotten tomatoes is hot trash. imdb top 50 percentile is more representative of my tastes. that would make last jedi an 8, episode 3 an 8, and episode 2 a 7.


in reality, star wars sucks cock. i give them all a 3/10.

To be fair, the prequels *ucked up Vader by starting with Anakin as a slave kid...

Episode 1 should have been Anakin already as a teenage padawan, the only bits about his mother are him seeing her in visions while training as a child at the academy, which is what leads the Jedi to realize how powerful he is, as he exhibits powers way beyond any others his age, as he shouldnt know his mother but somehow does through the force. The end should be the start of the clone wars, and the first time we see what his dark thoughts make him capable of (he gets a vision of his mother being tortured, he goes to tatooine, sees her for the first time and she dies in his arms, he kills all of the Tusken Raiders), comes back and tells Padme, and the movie ends there with Padme horrified but attempting to console him.

Episode 2 should focus on the clone wars, with Anakin "throwing himself into his work", and his growing resentment towards the Jedi as they always do the honorable thing even when it results in bad outcomes, and this puts him at odds with the council, as he progressively pushes "the ends justify the means", but they know he gets results so he isnt punished.

Episode 3 plays out pretty much the same, but the transition from jedi hero to child murderer isnt so dramatic.

Yeah but does every central character have to have some connection to him? I don't see the necessity in having Rey be connected to the Skywalkers. Last I checked the Jedi council was filled with strong force users that weren't of the Skywalker bloodline.

Yeah, but the problem is clearly with the TLJ score. That movie was an atrocity. Disney doesn't need to pay critics in regards to Marvel movies, they are good enough.

They shit the bed paying RT to rate TLJ high. They ruined theirs and RT's reputation with this move.

I never said she did, but there's a good reason that the Skywalkers are such an integral part of the star Wars Universe.

My friends got me a Nintendo Switch with 4 games for when I'd be hospitalized for treatments. I picked it up maybe twice for a total of maybe 90 min.

I used to enjoy gaming when I was younger and I was excited when I got it but I couldn't get into it anymore. I picked up my XBOX 360 controller just the other day and stopped after 10 min.

I think I aged out

I was just pushing back at what I saw as unfair criticism, because I feel it's obvious why they're so important.

Also, just because she's not connected to them, doesn't mean her parents have to be random nobodies. Rian did that just to be a a moron, I guess. Unraveling all of Abram's strings with no explanation is lazy, and hackish.

But you knew T3 was gonna blow going in. This movie had a lot of high hopes behind it.
 
It amazes me that people are so 'into' star wars that in their minds it is some sort of deep and meaningful franchise. When it came out it had cool effects; other than that the story was full of cliches and ideas taken from other movies by a terrible director.

To that end it is pretty funny how grown adults shit all over the newest movies as if they are any different than the originals in substance. I enjoy the franchise in the same way I would watch pacific rim or 'innerspace' from the 80s...a bit of simple fun.

Hey, there's still one movie left. There's still a chance she's Han and Leah's offspring and they separated her from Kylo so to make sure they don't both end up Siths of something like that, which would suck.

I personally don't see the need to have he be somebody by birthright. I think there is a remarkable storyline in someone that is left for dead, becoming a survavilst nobody and becoming the savior of the Galaxy.

That’s my biggest gripe as well. I enjoyed TFA and I totally get it’s critisms such as playing it safe and rehashing shit. But at least we had things to look forward to and mysteries. Obi wan calling out Rey, big bad evil snoke and figuring out who the fuck he is, now after the TLJ I have nothing to look forward to.

Right, but there needs to be a reason for her absurd power level. Especially because that's how it tends to work in the Star Wars Universe. Also, and again, Abram's set up some interesting mysteries, and I think dismissing them is lame. They could have revealed that her parent's were heretofore unknown, but they could still have a backstory that explains her power level, and heroic nature.

Maybe they were resistance members, who helped protect children from the Empire, but failed to protect their own, or something. Just spitballing here, obviously.

Plus the narrative was compelling, and the movie moved along at a good pace. Everything made sense, despite the derivative nature of the material.

In TLJ we had, running out of space gas.
