How did Last Jedi get such a high rotten tomatoes score?

**Flynn's about to sacrifice himself for the greater good to save whats left of the resistance**

**Rose hits him in a pod nearly killing Finn and herself while jeopardizing what's left of the resistance, FOR LOVE**

FUCK THAT MOVIE. Finn could have been a god damn hero, FUCK YOU ROSE.

It made even less sense that previously the film had been pushing the idea that Finn caring about Rey more than the resistance was a clear negative.

Again I think it gives the impression of a film that was more interested in throwing out endless twists and turns rather than actually looking at what its main stories were and telling them most effectively.

I do wonder whether Disney's schedule was an issue here as to me like TFA this film feels very much like it was written in a hurry, lots of ideas but not the time spent making sure they actually flowed together that well or made sense. Didn't Rogue One spend a lot longer in the writing stage than the sequels? plus of course it had a hefty amount of reshoots with Tony Gilroy who obviously knows how to put a film together.

Good fuck him. That can ruined star wars. Although tbf it was probably more the direction. Everyone comes off shitty in that trilogy except for Kenobi and Yoda. And I've seen Portman in enough things since to know she can act.

Well I fucking disagree!

How about that?!

Nevermind that the purple haired bitch just sacrificed gerself for the greater good not ten minites earlier...soooo the movies love message made no sense

It was superficially pretty and people associated with hollyweird are not allowed to view over left politicization as a flaw.. To the point that anything overly left is given too high of a score just to make sure nobody thinks that obvious bs flaw is the reason they (the critic) didn't like it.

We need a shift soon.

I know you like to be a contrarian, but are you actually defending this objectively terrible movie?

He liked it. He thinks its a bold interesting exciting new direction!

Its not age either, she delivered a far superior performance age 13/14 in Leon.

I just put it down to Lucas being very out of touch with direction after so many years away and being in a situation where nobody could force him to relearn how to work with actors well.

That movie was worse than Deadpool 2, that's saying somethin

Yeah Samuel L Jackson, one of the most charismatic actors of his generation, comes off like a cardboard cutout too. Liam Neeson doesn't fare well either, although like Mcgregor he found a way to inject some of his charm into a boring underwritten role. For such a great cast there's no good acting to be found throughout an entire trilogy, save for Neeson and Ewan, and maybe Yoda.

I think you mean, based on her knowledge at the time, "guaranteeing the murder of everyone in the resistance."

That does rather make indepth analysis of the prequels for me a little pointless, Lucas was simply out of touch as a writer/director and this undermines everything. Not to say the films don't have some redeeming features but the above ment they were never going to amount to great cinema.

TLJ to me feels rather different in that Johnson does show at points that he clearly has ability but this potential ends up being lost IMHO in a confused script and badly uneven tone.
