I always felt the movies were bigger than Harrison Ford, wheras most stars it's the exact opposite, they make the movies. This includes Blade Runner.

So having said that, what is it about him that was so enduring. He's not likeable. Charm?... Acting is solid but you arent blown away...

Did he just have good connections in the industry once he made it and then they just hired him? Or is he truly beloved by the public for whatever reason?

He seems to pick great projects. Maybe he truly has an eye for them, or maybe he just got lucky a few times. Who knows.
I think it's more the projects that picks him.

He was perfect in that Michelle Pfeiffer horror thriller. But that was an outlier.

I mean, he was charming and handsome in the 80s. 90s he had a rugged tough guy look and sound while not being cartoony tough. He didn't become grumpy Harrison until around Indy 4, which would have made me grumpy too.

He's not all grumpy. He's only half grumpy at best

Only film I remember of him is the 90s film Sabrina where he has an earring.

No, you had it right with "charm". He's got a natural charisma that you can't teach. I too, do not get why he is one of the biggest names in Hollywood ever, as he's an actor with middling talent, but he picks his spots well. He'll never blow you away with a performance, but he'll always fit whatever role he's in.

He's like comfort food. Nothing special that would be served at a gourmet restaurant, but damn, does it ever taste good and just hits the spot.

He’s a perfect model for the “every day man”.

He’s not the body builder action star of the 80’s or 90’s, something the average dad can never be.

Harrison’s popularity is the same reason Liam Neeson is popular. Just a guy that gets tough when the tough gets going.

I kind of link Harrison’s popularity to Tommy Lee Jones. Two very tough and salty bastards the average Joe won’t fuck with. Their mere presence demands respect solely on how they shake a hand, walk, and look you in the eye when they speak.

He actually came from a blue collar background.

Yeah. Look at Blade Runner. Hes average. Sometimes overacting. Certainly not irreplaceable
