How did Beneil Dariush(a high level BJJ black belt) get submitted so easily by purple belt Michael Chiesa at UFC on Fox?

Does not compute.

Because it's mma. Dariush tried to cage walk and get back to his feet instead of staying patient. Similar to holly/tate

Looked like Dariush gassed himself from striking in the first round and got a little tunnel vision on standing back up when he gave up my back. When you get tired you don't always make the best decisions.

The above, but I think he gassed more from the takedowns and clinching, especially because Chiesa looks taller and bigger than Dariush. Clinching and takedowns against taller larger opponents (who are also skilled) will suck the energy out of you quick.

He tapped to a face crank. That was not a choke. Just watched it.

Because his BJJ is SIK.. He is long, lanky and has an incredible squeeze. Pretty sure most guys he has subbed were "high belts" than him.

Not sure if you're right. Just because the choke isn't "sunk" doesn't mean the arteries arn't being restricted. There's a lot that can happen there, shoulders, Lats, your own chin can all restrict the arteries.
The first attempt didn't seem sunk at all either but Chiesa said he heard Dariush gurgling on that attempt.

Because its not BJJ but MMA?

because chiesa has the best rnc in mma

7 ufc wins, 5 by rnc.

Because cardio.

I would like to see Chiesa fight RDA one of these days. He could have given us the answer to beat Cordeiro-trained fighters.

Dos Anjos and Dariush are practically the same fighters. Excellent BJJ fighters with great striking, but seem to rely on being extremely aggressive in both grappling and standup situations.

When you try and simply trade with them like Pettis did against RDA, they manage to dominate you with muay thai and wrestle you to the ground when you're beaten.

If you calm the storm and easily counterwrestle and pressure like Khabib did against RDA and Chiesa did against Dariush, you manage to bring them out of an element they're comfortable with, making them tired and making it easier to catch them making mistakes.

A good chin, great cardio and excellent wrestling is probably the best combination you could have in MMA. Jon Jones is an example.

Yeah it didn't help that he was tired either but in any case sometimes people do things in mma that aren't great against a strong grappler. Especially a guy like Chiesa if you expose your back at all it could be your last.

I watched it just before posting on DVR. It was clearly visible he was on top of the chin and even Joe said so. And Joe is joe and alls.

Some guys just have one move that is black belt level. There's one dude at my gym. White belt, 150lbs soaking wet. Easy to sweep, easy to submit EXCEPT that, somehow, he has the nastiest arm triangle ever from inside (top) the closed guard. He taps everyone the first time with it. Blue belts, purple belts, brown belts. He sure as hell got me. He'd be a nightmare if he competed more. It's a money move for competitions and for MMA.

I bet Chiesa's back taking and RNChoking abilities are on a similar spectrum.

Do people really pay attention to fighter belt ranks? Pettis subbed black belt ADCC competitor Bendo, despite being a blue belt. It's almost as if being a professional fighter who trains very specific aspects of the ground game to an extremely high level as part of your overall style gives you skills that aren't represented by a belt rank.

Chiesa is a fantastic MMA grappler. He could sub anyone in the division on any given night.

I don't reaLly know how come no one from his camp told him they no matter what, do not give your back to Chiefs, his rnc is awesome, when people fight Maia you heard the corner yell to him, do not give your back...don't know why the same doesn't happen with Chiesa...

Lol at his "squeeze" being the reason he finished. Of all the contributing factors, his ability to squeeze his arms together harder than anyone else sealed it. If it was a man with a lesser "squeeze" there is no way he would have tapped!

Tucking your chin doesn't stop the choke, trust me lol it just delays the inevitable.
