Back in the day, he was HUGE. Now, he's constantly dwarfed by the top guys. What happened?

Featherweights are getting bigger.

Most of the new guys coming up are huge, Max, Ortega, Choi, Yair etc are all 5'10/5'11 tall.

People starting following in Will Chope's example.

6'4" FW.

He gained weight (muscle mass) while rehabbing a neck injury. He slowly lost that extra mass.

Also, bigger weight cutters came to the division.

Smaller weight divisions are relatively new in the UFC, so they've gone through a quick evolution. First you have natural FW's who have no other option than to fight at FW establishing the division, once that happened the division became lucrative enough for bigger guys to go through the pain of heavy weight cutting. And now you have 6'1 guys like Zabit Margomedsharipov in the division.

Same thing happened in other divisions. There is a reason why Frankie Edgar, one of the LW all time-greats, moved down to FW .

All the weight classes have become bigger over the past 3 or 4 years. It's gotten ridiculous, there needs to be limits enforced.

Was never tall but was always a thick 145, looks like he changed up his diet and body type to make weight easier.

And bigger fighters are cutting more weight

Aldo is not a tall FW anymore. But he's still a big FW. He walks around at 170 plus. He's a strong guy.

Now that the division is established and popular, there's more incentive for people to cut down to 145.

I agree TS.
Age, diet & usada might have something to do with it.

Lol at people saying USADA.

USADA made his opponents bigger. That's some great logic.

That's what I was thinking as well when people said USADA.

Maybe he was able to stay heavier before the IV ban, and without the IV he is choosing to cut less weight.
