How big of a "PPV draw" was CM Punk for 225?

I feel Brock was, and still is a bigger name even in wrestling than CM Punk, and the fact he's actually heavyweight with athletic backed stats(his football combine). He also won a MMA bout before UFC.

With all this said, how much of a PPV draw do you think CM Punk was? He wasn't really physically intimidating, not really athletic, he's not super charismatic much less confident in his abilities. I can see his first fight there was a noticeable bump in sales that could be attributed to him. Yet after his embarrassing first round loss, how much of a PPV boost do you think Punk could have really brought in for 225?

I haven't watched WWE since early 2000's so I really don't know how popular he was there.

Bigger than Overeem, ya goof!

he was most likely only on the PPV because it was probably in his contract that all his fights had to be on ppv so he could get points

Let's see what type of numbers it does to get an idea.

Regardless, that fight was pure

I felt the same watching it. But in retrospect, I'm glad it happened. I'm glad that Punk was an embarrassment and that this Mike Jackson character was daft enough (or maybe corrupt enough) to drag things out. It means that Dana and co. got badly burned and will maybe think twice the next time some celebrity tourist comes along.

Let us BOTH hope so.

lol

Casuals is what adds to viewers. The hardcores (most everyone on here) watches damn near all the fights anyway. That being said, I didn't hear any "buzz" from my friends about him. So he may have given the card a 10% boost. Or maybe I don't know what I'm talking about.

I bought the ppv just for Punk and turned it off after his fight

I imagine that's what at least half the buyers did

I thought it was hilarious that Mike Jackson took him as a joke and toyed with him. No more stunt shows please.

I'm in the same boat, I consider myself to be hardcore comparative to common public, but I didn't even see much CM Punk chatter on the internet (then again I'm an odd ball with no Facebook/twitter). Does anyone know the #'s for his PPV comparative to the rest of the ppvs #s that year. I'm a lazy fuck I admit.

It was a great card for fans of the sport, but the last Whitaker vs Romero fight did 150K...The fact that it got changed to a non-title fight wouldn't help either.

Punk's fight against Gall drew 450K buys...If this PPV crosses 400K than it's definitely a success, and Punk would definitely deserve some credit for that buyrate.

Out of curiosity, why was the choice of buying it CM Punk the decisive option for you to buy it? Did you want to see his fight specifically, or did this "freakshow" AND the other fights intrigued you too?

Hope you never walk out in the road if a joke truck is coming down the street

PPV doesn't do anymore than 400k

depends if Meltzer is on the payroll and what BS figure he comes out

i think it did around 330 and would have done about 50k-100k less without Punk

Thatd be one hell of an agent he got to get that on top of the base half million salary

I guess CM Punk gets the last laugh

I think it takes about a week for the ratings. I was half expecting a few ppp to clear out of the bar after the punk fight but I honestly don't think anyone came for that fight.
