They also privatized major banks, shipping, rail, steel, mining, many public services, etc. Basically completely reversing the western trend of depression era nationalization that occurred under Weimar. Selling off state ownership was how they paid for the war.

So literally the exact opposite of socialism. Of course high IQ war roomers have a different definition of socialism than historians and political scientists so I don't expect them to come to their senses on this one anytime soon lol.

While shows like Sesame Street which focus on teaching basic phonetic and numerical skills in addition to the interpersonal elements are important, Rogers and co. were working almost entirely on the notion that there's a lot of tough shit young people have to deal with and, given that they do not have experience in the difficulties of life nor a fully developed frontal lobe, it's probably really harrowing at times to have to deal with that stuff.

I think you're focusing too much on some of the really unique and exceptional moments that made it into the documentary (like the JFK assassination segment).

But my recollection of the show, while, as I said, very limited as a kid, involved Mr. Rogers essentially taking the audience on field trips to learn about how certain products were made or how certain services were performed. It's intent was clearly to educate.

The leading opposition to Hitler were the trade unionists, who were aligned with the Social Democrats (SPD). Once Hitler gained power, he tried to wipe them out.

The Nazis were officially named the National Socialist German Workers’ Party but independent trade unions had no place in Hitler’s vision for Germany. This was partly for ideological reasons: the socialist trade unions were influenced by Marxism, which the Nazis saw as a Jewish-inspired movement to divide German society. However, there were more practical factors: the unions were a barrier to the Nazi aims of bringing all areas of public life under their control and of winning over the working class to Nazism.
