Horror story about guy who got his carreer sabotaged by ex-GF

Eric Abramovitz who is a very talented clarinet player got an offer to play in an elite school. They only accept 2 students a year...
The teacher sended him an e-mail he was accepted, but his GF who lived with him deleted the mail and answered the school he was not interested... and send the guy pretending to be the teacher that he was not accepted. She didn't want her BF to move away.
Guy gets a depression because he is not allowed in the school and after 2 years meet the teacher again and the whole thing gets out.
