Horror News & Discussion Redux

Also I watched Triangle after seeing it mentioned here. At first I thought you guys were referring to that TV movie, tho couldn't see you guys really being such fans of that to suggest it lol, so googled and anyways . . .

Had me really tense at the beginning, and then after that settled down it was just a fun little ride tbh. I liked it ^.^

great movie. I love shit like that. First time I watched it I got to the point where they are on the ship and shit starts happening and i thought great another torture porn movie and started fast forwarding it then was like wuuuuuut? and had to rewind it.

Really, you got torture porn vibes from that?

when everyone else but that blond chick got killed and it was only 30 mins into the movie---yes
I found that to be really odd. I'm so used to people slowly getting picked off throughout the movie, I was like wow what are they going to do with just one girl left on this ship? Which actually made me more tense. Idky. Guess I thought they'd then focus a lot on some creepy fucks stalking her around o: although when she was fighting the person in the mask and what they were saying was muffled, I kind of expected a twist at that point

I totally went in with zero expectations of the movie but it is probably in my top 15 of this decade. I love time structures like that.

I watched The Witch last night. I really really liked it. It was a little hard to understand what they were saying, but it wasn't too hard. I loved all the little angles the movie brought up to just add more stress gradually. I thought the ending was awesome, and I loved black Phillip.

So last night I was trying to find byzantium online last night to watch, but was tired n cranky n couldn't find a working site fast enough so said fuck it lol.

Was at Dollarama today (lol I'm a bargain basement ass bitch) and seen they had horror movies out for Halloween. I always go through their movies ever since I found Night of the Living Dead/The Terror/(and my fav) House on Haunted Hill all for 1.14 lol.

Anyyyways, found this movie there for 2.50. I figured it's a good enough deal so got it. Good timing.

also got Hillside Cannibals, anybody seen it?

fright-rags is doing a 72 hour timed release of this Jason Edmiston Halloween design. It is available as a tee, baseball tee and hoodie.

I would order a size up to account for shrinking.

This is it gents, last one!

10 years of great entertainment from Mr. Rolfe and the crew and it looks like it's going out great!

Watched a small little recent film called Tell Me How I Die. Concept was great, film was OK (besides a few really cheesy parts), ending was lazy. Overall though, worth a watch for sure.

Fox's The Exorcist had a pretty solid premiere episode.

I would recommend checking it out, especially if you are a fan of The Exorcist.

speaking of Edmiston, I just these in the mail recently from him.

Watched As Above, So Below for the first time last night. Wow, ashamed I passed on this for so long. Awesome film. This and The Descent have really made me love cave diving horror, shame there aren't more.

Agreed, this was one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. Super well done and felt extremely creepy through out.

I watched Darling a couple of days ago. I enjoyed it except for the flashing scenes that happened throughout the movie. It was done too much in my opinion.

I've done a lot of horror movie watching lately as it is late September and I get into the Halloween mood.

Blair Witch - I rather enjoyed this one, even though it flopped at the box office. I was also a big fan of the original. I really liked that they tried expanding the mythos and the Witch's power in this. There were some corny parts and not all the characters were likeable, but overall I felt like this was the proper sequel for the first film. Gave me a bit of claustrophobic feeling of being stuck in the woods. Out of 10, I'd rate it at a 6.5/7.

Assault on Precinct 13 - I know not everyone considers this a horror flick, but I do. And I am talking about the 1976 version, not the remake. The tension is so palpable in this. The onslaught of the gang, and the way they acted was like a supernatural force. Very reminiscent of the original Night of the Living Dead. Also the score is just so perfect, which is not surprising because John Carpenter worked on it. Classic stuff. Out of 10, I'd rate it at 7.5.

Cube - Once again, not everyone considers this horror, but I do. The terrifying prison that is the Cube and the decaying human interaction makes this scary. I kinda have forgotten about it, but me and the lady decided to watch it last night. This was an exhausting flick, and I mean that in a good way. The thought of having to make it past all of the traps and not knowing how to get the hell out of that thing is really horrifying. Out of 10, I rate it at 7.

Sleepaway Camp - A good ole exploitation slasher flick from the early 80's. I hadn't seen it in probably a good 8 years. While it is sloppy and the acting is wooden, it feels all good because of how the killer is set up. It's a whodunit in a way. The deaths are good, the killer pov works wonders in it and the shocking ending is always welcomed. Out of 10, I put it at a 6.5.

Idk how anyone could consider Cube anything but horror lol but LOVE that movie. Don't mind the whole franchise, actually. Good reviews. The ending of Sleepaway Camp fucked me up.

Cube is definitely an underrated film. I love the character of Worth. Definitely the most fleshed out. And the freeze frame on Angela at the end of Sleepaway always gives me some chills.
