Horror News & Discussion Redux

I always found it awful that the Japanese were forced to pixelate their porn. But I see now that without that censorship, they would've had no reason to exercise their imaginations to the point of coming up with vag missiles. And now that I know about vag missiles, I wouldn't wanna live in a world without them.

I'm watching Dawn of The Dead right now and I just realized Captain Rhodes is in the beginning of the movie as one of the cops.

New Line Cinema has debuted the first spooky The Conjuring 2 trailer, featuring returning stars Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga reprising their roles as real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren.

Unlike the recent spinoff film, Annabelle (which explored the back story of the first film’s terrifying doll), The Conjuring 2 will continue the based-on-truth adventures of the Warrens, whose cases have also inspired the likes of The Haunting in Connecticut and most notably, The Amityville Horror. In the sequel, Lorraine and Ed Warren travel to north London to help a single mother raising four children alone in a house plagued by malicious spirits.

The Conjuring 2 also stars Frances O’Connor as the single mom, with Madison Wolfe and newcomers Lauren Esposito, Patrick McAuley and Benjamin Haigh as her children; Maria Doyle Kennedy; Simon Delaney; Franka Potente; and Simon McBurney.

Crimson Peak might not scare your pants off, but I thought it was a pretty darn loyal homage to Gothic literature.

You said gothic literature... And I'm hard.
Read quite a bit of it in my Victorian Lit class last semester and was really into it even though I'm a Modernism and Post-modernism kinda guy. Got to revisit Wuthering Heights, and it really opened itself up to me this time; wrote all my papers for that class on it. So Crimson Peak hit the spot pretty well. It plays with many of the common tropes (even the incest!), builds a right proper Gothic atmosphere, and even uses color symbolism/schemes that is commonly found in Gothic literature. Check it out for sure.

I wouldn't say it's a great film, but it's worth checking out. It's good. Just missed making my top 30 of 2015. I know there are plenty of quality uploads on public trackers if you torrent. Didn't Stephen King like it a lot?

Unfortunately, I am media pwnt at the moment. No torrenting for me.

But yeah, Stephen King was a big fan of this film. I take his word for things.

Interesting. I was going to read withering heights a bit ago but got sidetracked. I've had an interest in gothic literature the last few years. I revisited Mary Shelley's Frankenstein and fell in love with it as an adult, as well as Hp Lovecraft. I also looked into some of the newer stuff like "The Grotesque".

Hmmm. I remember Frankenstein boring the shit out of me as a child. Maybe I would respect it more now?

Goodnight Mommy was fantastic imo.

I knew what was up pretty quick but was still stunned by where it went.

If you like smart, art house horror and aren't put off by subtitles or slow burn pacing Goodnight Mommy is a must.

I never finished it! I still don't know what the twist is lol

The top incest pics for me are Flowers in the Attic and Amityville 2.
