Horowitz in Moscow

Here is the amazing recital of the HO in Moscow. Some context; its his first time in Russia since he bounced with some loot hidden in his shoes over 60 years prior. This incredible event had political implications, it was a cultural exchange of sorts between the Reagan white house and the Kremlin. That's his piano he is playing btw, they flew that thing from new york to moscow. He is 83 here i think. What a BALLER



Cliffs:
-The Mozart is just lovely. Mozart is sort of easy to play, but very difficult to play well, if that makes any sense.
-The Scriabin op8/12 etude is a straight up BAD AS A MOTHERFUCKER unleash. Be prepared for big sound.
-The Liszt sonnet is the sexiest thing here. Incredibly beautiful playing.
-The Moskowski encore Etincelles is quite fitting here. What fucking fingers for an 83 year old man...juz DAIM!

Peeps love to call Horowitz the standard Russian pianism...but that is not true. Once he landed in America he became American as evidenced by this performance. He would go on to play his Stars and Stripes Forever in central park on VE day in front of like a million people.
