Oh yeah definitely didn't include much technical analysis but great to hear the setting and character depictions are stellar

Debuts don't get much stronger than Horizon: Zero Dawn. Guerrilla Games' latest borrows liberally from a variety of different sources, and yet it leverages these fundamentals to forge an experience that's daringly unique. The main quest tires a little towards the end, and the writing never hits the same highs as The Witcher 3 – but the tactical action stands leagues ahead of what we've come to expect from the genre, and the presentation is quite simply unmatched.

Thinking of pre-ordering it. It looks fantastic.

One of my biggest fears for this was it would have a bunch of trash side quests, but reading they went with less, more meaningfully side quests. sounds like the real reviews are coming in really positive. IGN scored it at 93.

With the review embargo lifted, it’s been revealed that the 250MB day one Horizon Zero Dawn update will include a new PlayStation 4 Pro Performance mode favoring frame-rate.

“Horizon Zero Dawn will receive a small day zero patch that will build upon PlayStation 4 Pro support, adding a Performance mode which will favor smoother framerates while delivering higher visual fidelity in the 1080p mode,” Sony wrote in the review documents. “This mode is available for both 4K and 1080p displays.”

You’ll be able to choose your resolution and HDR/SDR preferences in Horizon Zero Dawn by opening up the menu and going to Settings > Visual.

Yeah they came out guns blazing this year. RE7 VR times exclusivity, Nioh which is great, and now this.

Same here. I had kind of given up on this one a while back but the gameplay looks better than expected. I'll be checking out some streams when it gets released to see if it grabs me.

Not even surprised watching them release so many great games last gen is one of the reasons why I switched. MS just release's sequels and while sequels are great I want some new shit which is what Sony is all about. Sometimes it doesn't work out but I at least want someone out there taking chances.

Here, here the reason Xbox 360 started last gen so strong was their exclusives. Gears of War, Mass Effect, Bioshock (timed exclusive), Halo 4.

Why the fuck they got away from that I don't know. We'll actually I do. They just don't have the same quality of first party developers.

Yep and what I've noticed from this gen as well is they always seem to start off strong and then they slow down a lot and focus on sequels a lot more. It was so annoying to be on Xbox and I'm getting some Gears of War prequel and Sony is getting two brand new IP's with the PS4 coming out in a year.
