Honest question: why some (or most) of you think JG doesn't deserve the TS?

It should be Arman, I know. We know. But Dana does Dana.

Justin was the 1st contender when he fought Max @ 300. Max was the next contender at FW, too, so it was a ballsy move for both.

Alright, Max gave him a beating. But let’s not forget he fought with a broken nose since the end of the first round and took a couple of -unintentional- nasty eye pokes.

And, in any case, a fight for the BMF should be completely independent of his standing in LW, don’t you think?
He won his "mandatory" back-to-the-talk fight vs Fiziev...

If you take Arman out of the picture because of whatever, Justin is right IMHO.

It should be Paddy, heck those other entitled divas 🐈

If you take Arman out which he is, then yes Justin makes sense. Its either him or Paddy and you can make a case for either guy. Who else is there? Max just got KO'd by Ilia, granted it was FW, the fight is just too recent to create any demand for a rematch.

There's no one who actually deserves a shot other than Arman. There are at least a half-dozen others who make more sense than Paddy from the point of view of putting on a minimally competitive or entertaining performance against Ilia, and even if you buy into the assumption that Paddy would sell a chunk more PPVs, it's still doubtful that he would sell enough to make a difference to the UFC under the ESPN contract and putting extra money in ESPN's pocket isn't any motivation at all to book the fight. As for Gaethje, Max would be better if he hadn't recently been convincingly trounced by Ilia and didn't have an injury to deal with, but there's no one else who's a meaningfully better choice on any dimension.

Gaethje will put on a fun fight to watch for however long it lasts and has a non-trivial if poor chance of making it competitive even if Ilia's at or near 100%. That's the best that can be hoped for once you exclude Arman, and it's a lot better than Paddy.

This above. That statement of Gathje or Paddy when you take Arman out is why they should be booked to fight for the next titleshot. By Next I mean after Arman vs Ilia happens. Hell put it on the undercard as the Co Main and you have a built in backup in case of a pull out by Arman or Ilia. Book someone like Hooker vs a serviceable LW and he can step up to Co Main in the event Paddy or Gathje need to step up.

Ilia Islam is the match, otherwise who cares, challenger will be a heavy underdog. If Justin wants to get kod , they can decide who has the biggest name and fights for cheapest. Maybe paddy makes sense instead of Justin. Arman, no one cares, and people can just clown on him for missing weight. I'm not sure how Arman makes any commercial sense.

Gaethje only has 5 wins in the last 6 years. And during that time, he's already recieved (and lost) 2 title shots.

I wouldn't be mad if Gaethje received the next shot, given the state of the division. But let's not pretend he's a deserving #1 contender. Gaethje has somehow gone from a just bleed patron saint to one of the most entitled divas in the game.

LW is a mess right now. In a merit based universe without company grudges, it would be Armen vs Ilia, Justin bs Paddy. But in our universe we got a diva champ who’s willing to vacate than fight Arman and we got a boss who prefers to get even than doing the right thing. I’m really interested to see what weird way this whole thing plays out.

Because winning one fight against a short notice replacement he already beat shouldn't earn him a title shot?

He already had one unearned shot, he shouldn't get a second. This would be his second one fight win streak over an opponent coming of a loss title shot in a row.

I'm fine with JG, Paddy, or Arman. I actually think Max fought very well against Ilia and after one more win at LW I would love a rematch.

Why should a guy ranked #5 and 4-3 in his last 7 get the shot? Off one win in a row over the #10 guy?

Arman on the other hand is ranked #2, has 4 wins in a row and is 9-1 in his last 10. Even Paddy is 7-0 UFC on a 9-fight win streak overall.
