I have searched through the forum, and the following are the brands that have been mentioned the most:

Dollamur Swain Flexi Roll,
Zebra
AKAthaletics Online
Resilite

Mentioned minimally:
Real Jiu Jitsu Factory Seconds Mats
Greatmats.com
Wrestler's World

Who has had experience with these, and what is the better value and why? I have space in basement to roll. Happen to have a hanging thai bag as well, so that may come into play as part standup should I go larger than 10x10.

Are there other things I should be thinking about?

Thanks

i like the dollamur mats but whatever fits your price range and is 2" thick is good

the realjuijitsu ones look pretty reasonable....also the reviews on their site look good

I'm planning on going with the Dollamure via their ebay store. I can cover more area for less $. I've been watching their "Or best offers" and figure I can get the mats for around $100-$150 less than the marked price. Also Free shipping!!! These are the mats we use at my school for training and I really like them.

resilite are by far your best mats. the great thing about the dollamurs is that one guy can roll and transport them. they have a shorter life and when not under proper conditions will fade quickly

I have the Swain mats mentioned above, and I also got them through the Ebay store. I'm pretty happy with them. My only recommendation is get more then you need. I got 10' x 10' which sounds big, but in reality it's not room enough for stand up TDs, and is even limiting during heavy ground sessions. Of course my space is literally 10 x 10, so on the edges of the mat you have furniture and walls.

Wouldn't Resilite and AKathletics be the same thing, wrestling mat etc? would u go with the AKAthletics then?

AKathletics looks like a wall mat that they put circles on. Resilite is the best. Dollamur is okay, but they feel weird and they wear out quick if you don't take care of them.

None of the 10 by 10's have the best offers, which one are you referring to?

We have the Zebra Tatame and Puzzle mats at our Clarksville TN MMA and BJJ school, the Dollamur mats at our APSU Grappling class and the Great Mats puzzle mats at our Murray KY MMA School and I would have to rate the Zebra Tatame way above all the others. They provide more protection and the firmness is perfect for what we use them for.

How would you compare the Dollamur and the Great Mats?

I own a MMA school and we use AKAthletics. They are 1-3/8" thick pt foam sealed in heavy vinyl. They absorb shock just like any expensive wrestling mat. They cost $360 for a 10' x 10' which folds in half. They come with velcro to attach multiple mats. You can customize any color mat with any color circles for no extra charge. We've been using them daily for 2 years and we love them.

I use Champion Mats (just google it for website) and they are great puzzle mats. I wanted to go with Zebra but you have to have a min. piece order, but that is not the case with Champion. A 10ft x 10ft mat set is 9 pieces, and you have to order at least 15 pieces before almost all other places will ship, but there is no min. order from champion.

*Edit* These mats do bleed a little bit, I am not sure if that is the case with the others as well. just thought I would give a heads up on this.

I should have specified. I need larger than 10 x 10 and they usually have something like a 12 x 14 or 16 x 18 with a best offer ability. I'm trying to find around 18 x 20 or 16 x 18 for my garage. The only problem I have is the cost to cover two thirds of a three car garage.

I have purchased the Wrestling Mats by AK Athletics, and would very much recommend their stuff. My Brother bought his daughter some folding panel gymnastics mats from them and recommended me to check out their stuff when I was putting up my mini workout area in my basement.

And I just realized this thread is probably about half a year old lol - sorry about that!
