There's no scientific data to back it up, but I've been noticing a trend lately and reading this article didn't help. It's not only a vocal minority, a LOT of people are really showing their hatred towards Jewish people. Well, maybe "hatred" isn't the correct term to use. More like dismissal or not caring about the Jewish history of being an oppressed minority.

I hope we can have a civil discussion about this and not get this thread locked.

This is the article I was talking about. If this article was posted 10 years ago, I don't think it would have a fraction of the amount of hateful comments than it does now.

You're right, it wouldn't have a fraction of the comments it does now ten years ago, because the amount of people using the internet then was a tiny fraction of what it is now.

I'm talking about the ratio of hateful comments versus your normal comments.

Can't wait to hear Big D's comments on this.

Maybe it's "Holocaust fatigue?"

With all the pogroms, and persecution the jews have endured they have rightfully been diligent in trying to make sure it will never happen again. When I was in high school i had to read he Diary of Anne Frank, we watched Schindlers List, our history class when it touched on WW2 focused heavily on the shoah.

But as with slavery with Black people, some might find the whole narrative tiresome. The backlash may stem from bigotry, or maybe the fact that people just want to move on.

Others reasons may be that some think that the leadership in isreal uses the holocaust to justify their ongoing subjugation of the Palestinian people and the theft of their lands.
Some also point out that many other people like the Russians, and Chinese also experienced horrors that exceeded that which were inflicted on the jews, but the jews have been more organized in maintaining their victim narrative.

And then again it could be just good ol' fashioned bigotry that is enabled by the anonymity that the internet provides.

I read the first wave of comments and there was not that many hateful ones in there. To be honest I am really surprised that are still around 200K survivors left given WW2 ended 70 years ago

Some people may not differentiate between the gigantic Jewish/Israel lobby structure setup to influence political policies across the western world, and average every day people of Jewish faith.

From a political standpoint, it is strange to see such influence a foreign country has directly over supposed sovereign nations.

It could certainly raise mistrust, but people tend to see things in generalizations a lot of the time and blame 'Jews' which isn't accurate.

Resentment also occurs when people are branded as anti-semites for pointing out the influence of jewish/israeli lobby groups in the western world.

It feeds the paranoia of certain types.

Edit: Reread the OP and noticed I misunderstood the context of the thread. My bad.

There were so many damn children in those concentration camps, it isn't THAT odd.

Anyway, even though Hitler wiped out something like 37% of the Jewish faith, much like slavery, people have short attention spans and just want people to "get over it."

You had to study the holocaust also? Geez is this universal in USA?

I don't know about comparing Russian and Chinese suffering with that of the jews at least percentage wise. They did not lose as many lives percentage wise as the Jews. Both mostly lost lives immediately, as opposed to suffering for a year in a prison, then meeting your end in an inglorious way.

But what is the average jewish person? It is not the Hasidics living in Williamsburg NYC, who apparently are living pious and traditional lives, but actually have a pretty negative reputation. ( they use up a lot of social services being one of the negative stereotypes )

I would say the average Jewish person is upper middle to upper class. They work in white collar professions including Finance and Media. I am willing to bet that many of them if not most of them, support the Jewish/Israel Lobby too in some capacity.

Both Stan Lee and Hugh Hefner served in WWII, so it's not that long of a stretch to think so as millions of Jews were affected by the Holocaust.

I'm Canadian.

I get what your saying. It's just that there are those who believe that jews have acquired a monopoly on human suffering and are using it cynically.

This might be the reason why TS feels theres an increase in hatred for them as a people.

the thing I dont like about holocaust is how Jews get the preferential treatment. plenty of people suffered at the hands of Nazi regime.

the 'oppressed minority' somehow managed to be the majority of 'the 1%', and controls government and media. I wish I was oppressed.

Anyone have the "Coming soon: Schindler's List II" image?

It's pretty crazy how in some countries you can't even discuss the validity of the Holocaust without going to jail

people of Jewish Faith is a poor descriptor of the people the Nazis murdered for being Jewish. Whether you think that modern Jews are descended more from Semites or Caucasians they are a distinct racial group which was recognized in the Nuremberg Laws. Many of the Jews murdered were Jewish Christians/Catholics & Jewish Atheist/Agnostics.

Oh & BTW I'm loving the justifications raining in that justify the dismissal of the Holocaust using the same tired old narrative that Hitler used to justify it in the first place.
