Holly's super sweet outside of the cage, and so is her striking.

Aside from Jones, Cerrone, Condit, Swanson, Overeem, Arlovski, Sanchez ... the list goes on.

Common misconception perpetuated by people that just need to hate on something.
bruh Sanchez was a killer on the ground then all of a sudden someone told him his striking was great and he just arm punches now same with swanson he just throws the same punches over and over again no setup just arm punches galore just those two alone make me not trust that team. did anyone notice how Holms corner just looked bored while Holm was on her back getting dominated? no help whatsoever.

First TS was so sure that Holly would beat Miesha, then when that doesn't happen, so happy to kick her when she's down after the next loss.

Interwebz gonna interweb.

She was handling Miesha, and I've ALWAYS thought Holly fought scary, and her power was super duper wack. What's changed? I even called it to a tee how she was gonna beat Ronda.

I even said Nunes would beat Holly, right after she beat Miesha. Holly didn't lose like this at that point. I've known. I have a Cain avatar, listen to me!

I was cringing watching her punching and kicking air

Holly has always fought like this. In the Pennington fight she was afraid to lead and got caught a couple times. Valentina just had the perfect gameplan. Don't rush in and get KO'd like Ronda. Be patient and pick your spots.

Stop it. She's always lacked power, and fights scary as hell all the time, except vs a novice in Ronda.
Never said she had big power in her hands, but she normally looks much sharper when countering.

No comment, I don't wanna get myself in trouble if ya catch my drift.

Win one fight and you're the GOAT. Lose one fight and all of a sudden you suck.

Two fights. Also I have never even heard of the girl she lost to. Admittedly I don't follow wmma super closely however it's a fight she needed to win.

When I watch Holly's striking, I'm reminded of something Bruce Lee wrote in his book. He alluded to the fact that a lot of people stop their strike at their moment of impact instead of following through with the strike, trying to punch through their target. Every time Holly tried striking, it seemed like it was just to get the punch or kick there, but not to follow through. Granted she's a more decorated striker than I'll ever be, but that's what I noticed.

In actual fighting, you don't really want to punch through your target, because that exposes you, and that means you haven't brought your hand back to protect yourself. In reality, you want to have a whiplash effect with your strikes. Like cracking a whip.

And Holly sucks at that lol.

Valentina fought a great fight. Holly didn't lose to a slouch. Was she over hyped because of her massacre of Ronda? Sure. I still think she beats Meisha, Nunes, Ronda, Pena and Zingano. She lost to a better, sharper striker tonight. She's far from exciting but she's still top 3-5 imo. Crazy how fickle some fans are.
