"Holly Holm greatest WMMA fighter of all time?" Sherdog consensus...

We all have heard it, from reputable people, fighters, analysts...

Due to Holms decorated accomplishments in the boxing/kickboxing ring, becoming the first to defeat Ronda Rousey becoming the first ever to win belts in both sports. First to compete for the 145 pound title (robbed IMO). Lots of Firsts.

The consensus among the "experts" is arguable that because Holly beat the "GOAT" Rousey and IF she were to beat Cyborg she will be without a doubt the best WMMA fighter we have ever seen, hell its even mentioned in the build up.

What does Sherdog think....do you agree with this? If not why not?

On one hand if she beat Cyborg, she'd have the two most impressive wins in WMMA history. But then again, she's never had the type of aura or wins for a streak of time like Cyborg, Ronda and Joanna have done. She would have a claim as the WMMA GOAT but that doesnt mean she'd be the WMMA GOAT.

Im sure Holly would demolish Joanna IF the fight was ever even possible. She may lose fights here and there, petty decision losses, but she beats the best out there. If she BEATS the best they have to offer I can see where the analysts are coming from.

I never considered Ronda the GOAT but man, SOOOO MANY people did even Joe Rogan was on her teet. Mike Goldberg, everyone thought after the Betch knockout and the knee to the liver on Sarah convinced many fans she could strike. She held up against Tate 2 times. Again I agree with you, I never considered her the GOAT, she waas handed the belt to start a division that was brand new where fighters werent properly ranked . If Amanda Nunes was ranked higher she may have beaten Rousey sooner than Holly, never know.

Maybe..... I think Breaking Cyborg's and Ronda's longtime reigns outweighs her close losses. She is in a weird spot. You could say she beats Tate 7 out 10 times cuz she got caught in the 5 about to win a decision , GDR could have gone either way too. Valentina was a lil speedier/compact and did well versus Holly's lull/non aggrssve style maybe if Holly changed up her gameplan a lil she could have taken that win too.

I would give it to her if she beats Cyborg. It's WMMA.

I'd say that, considering her boxing/kickboxing background, if she were to beat Cyborg tonight and become a 2-time/2-weight division champ, I'd have no problem saying that she could be the best female combat sports fighter of all time, but I wouldn't necessarily sign off on her being the most accomplished in WMMA alone.

Hate to say it but this is true. Ronda thrust WMMA not so much into the spot light but at least onto the big stage. Not many casuals care about WMMA but the ones that do, I'm pretty sure it's because of Ronda

I agree all except Joanna. She won convincingly sure but when I call somebody dominant I think of GSP and ANdy Silva Jon Jones etc. Joanna got hurt in her fights (in trouble against Karolina for 10 seconds but survived), dropped a few times (one by a jab Claudia threw in the rematch. Claudia was game just has NO GAS TANK. Claudia won the first fight IMO but my opinion dont matter after all judges thought Lawler beat Condit when Robbie only won round 2 and 5. Andrade just didnt have the technique to match JJ. Joanna was a great champion but rarely finished a fight. Is Tony Ferguson a GOAT because of his 10 fight win streak? Guarantee Conor will be a favorite if they fight.
