I believe his boxing is not very technical, there isn't a great jab or straight punches. His strenght relies on his volumen, his chin, his cardio and his bravery. Like a Nate or Nick Díaz type of striker. Obviously he has no relevant kicks in his arsenal.

Thoughts?

It's only sloppy when he wants it to be

Otherwise its one of best in ufc

He wins all of his fights with striking. You don't beat down Aldo twice with sloppy striking.

Who has said his striking is sloppy?!?

I have never seen that.

By the way, everything you said is wrong, I'm just pointing out the easiest one to exemplify, which was your comment on max not having relevant kicks lol.

Max is the Champ for a reason, what you have posted here makes you look like a Chump…

Edit: Also the Diaz Bros are two of the most Technical strikers out there… don't believe me? Go ask them for a fight and see how you get on.

Disagree, his striking is very good. I thought in the 2nd Aldo fight he relied on his chin a little too much, but it seemed like he was trying to make a point. Which he did.

This.

You don't out strike Aldo with sloppy striking.

Jesus if even a likable well rounded fighter gets shit on at sherdog no wonder the other champs do.

TS is a moron, when has Holloway recently been sloppy? Dude is as slick as they come and he had that 3 or 4 punch combo finished off with a beautiful spinning heel kick against lamas in round two if I recall correctly

You should rewatch the Do Bronx fight... His body shots are pretty decent, and this kind of body work is quite rare in MMA...

what do you mean by sloppy? Throwing 20% is not sloppy, but throwing while leaving ur chin up in the air is sloppy no matter how crisp the strike is. Max is a dynamic striker throwing everything from 20-90% power which is technical. Aldo is a sloppy striker (in the later rounds) cuz he thorows 100% in everything and ends up brawling like an amature in the later rounds cuz hes arms are filled with lactic acid.
I like Ortegas striking more than Maxs though.

A lot of these people just can't tell what they're watching. When you can lure elite fighters into trading in the pocket, then use head movement and footwork to avoid their shots while landing hard shots of your own in volume, you're not a bad striker.

It takes really high level skills to fight with the style he uses and still avoid taking a lot of damage in your fights. He's not a take one to land one, he makes you THINK you're going to land one, then hits you HARD while slipping your punches. In the second Aldo fight you could see how badly it was confusing him. They'd trade in the pocket and after every exchange Aldo would look like he got hit by a train but Max was still fresh and was hardly taking ANY flush shots at all. It was a masterful performance.

Have you seen the way he slides in and out? Dude's striking is top notch, he almost never relies on his chin as he's usually avoiding strikes.

Sherdog striking professor doesnt
like FW champions stand up game.Thats why I still hang this place

Really great informative post. In the gifs you posted, you can see his fast and fluid footwork on display, as well as excellent understanding of distance and timing. Just look at that shuffle step to both avoid that spinning backfist and immediately be in range to counter and pressure. And the way he turns to look and aim in the middle of that spinning kick. Excellent stuff.

He gave two shows against Aldo.
Thats not shit striking in any way shape or form.
