I love to read about history's villains... I like really obscure figures that did horrific things under the guise of some other fucked up shit - War Criminals, killers, people that coldly contributed to genocides or other great atrocities that you may not have heard of.

Here's a few of the worst of the worst - I'll sporadically add more to the thread and op.

175px-Bundesarchiv_Bild_183-S73495%2C_Oskar_Dirlewanger.jpg

Oskar Dirlewagner - Nazi war Criminal, Rapist.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oskar_Dirlewanger

So this guy was a WW1 veteran, noted for bravery and brutality, as he raped and murdering his way through Romania until he led a garrison of his men home. At some point in the early 30s went to jail for molesting a 14 year old girl... Upon release, he joined the Nazi Party, and because of his attitude and ruthlessness, he rose quickly through the ranks, and when WW2 started he was put in charge of a Penal Death squad - hand picked by Dirlewagner, these guys were the dregs of the jails - a bunch of alcoholic sexual deviants, just like Dirlewagner...

Dirlewanger's leadership "was characterized by continued alcohol abuse, looting, sadistic atrocities, rape, and murder—and his mentor Berger tolerated this behaviour, as did Himmler, who so urgently needed men such as the Sonderkommando Dirlewanger in his fight against 'subhumanity'."[22] In his letter to Himmler, SS-Brigadeführer Odilo Globocnikrecommended Dirlewanger, who "in charge of the Jewish camp of Dzikow ... was an excellent leader."[23] During the Nuremberg Trials after the war, Berger said: "Now Dr. Dirlewanger was hardly a good boy. You can't say that. But he was a good soldier, and he had one big mistake that he didn't know when to stop drinking."[24]

When Warsaw rebelled against the Nazis, it was Dirlewagner and his troops that were sent in to make sure it didn't happen again... They spent a week moving from house to house, killing, raping, and torturing as they pleased - Dirlewagner had a particularly nasty fetish for injecting girls with poison and then raping them as the writhe in pain... This guy routinely sent his men into hospital to kill all the patients, and rape/murder all of the doctors and nurses... As his squads pushed into the Polish country, they just put the villagers in churches, burnt the church, and machine gunned anyone that managed to escape the flames. They even based a film on the guy.

When the war ended, his unit was taken prisoner, and as fate had it, the prison was manned by some local Polish dudes... Who recognised Dirlewagner, and beat his evil ass to death on the spot. His unit had killed up to 300,000 people.

220px-George_Bingham%2C_3rd_Earl_of_Lucan.png

George Bingham, Lord Lucan The 3rd.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Bingham,_3rd_Earl_of_Lucan (his wiki is seriously lacking certain facts)
https://www.historyireland.com/18th-19th-century-history/from-the-files-of-the-dib-the-exterminator/

Now this absolute piece of shit is actually more famous for the notorious military disaster, "The Charge Of The Light Brigade", wherin he ordered his unit to charge at a group of Turks, causing them to get annihilated by cannons.

Anyway, this dude was a Landlord on the west of Ireland during the great potato famine (potatoes crops failed, England refused to cease food exports from Ireland, and about 25% of the population died). He was, it's fair to say, not the nicest guy, even before then - he kept subdividing land, to the point where literally the only crop a family could afford after farming to lag the enormous rents Lucan charged was potatoes. Families squatted over fires in barren shacks freezing, while Lucan lived a luxurious life in England, going back only to reap more misery.

When the famine hit hard, the British Government blamed the landlords, and ordered them to pay a small levy to feed the poor... Lucan responded by evicting as many as he could, using "crowbar gangs" who would literally just turn up at a family house and pull it apart over their heads, whatever the weather. Stories of families dying from cholera having priests give them last rites as gangs ripped their shacks apart in the pouring rain as they lay on the ground were common..."I will not breed paupers to pay a priest" he said once, as he evicted 2000 people from a single parish on a cold December morning.

He even closed the workhouses in his constituency - he was the chairman of the local "Help The People" society, and so, after walking through the wild lands of rural Ireland, starving and emaciated, willing to sign their lives to slavery just for a bowl of cruel and floor to sleep on... They ended up dying in the doorways. 100,000 people died as a direct result of his policies... Entire villages died, and were wiped from the map, and the only thing protesting against him did was make him angry. He gained the nickname "The Exterminator" while he was still alive, and was proud of the title.

His ruthlessness led to him being put in charge of The Light Brigade in Crimea... He managed to arrogantly ignore everyone who advised him, and make his troops hate him with his brutal punishments and expectations... Right up until the point that he panicked during a battle, and ordered his entire unit to charge a guarded enemy position on horseback - they were obliterated, Lucan was called back in disgrace, and died in London 3 years later a hated figure both in England and Ireland.

Gaius Julius Caesar Augustus Germanicus AKA Caligula
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caligula

I copied the text below.

Rome’s 3rd emperor from AD 37 to AD 41. He was wild, extravagant, with a penchant for sexual adventures. In the first 3 months in his reign of terror, over 160,000 animals were sacrificed in his honor. He later got a brain fever that made him mentally ill. He then believed he was a god. Under Caligula, the law became an instrument of torture. He believed prisoners should feel a painful death. He began to brutally murder for fun. He would kill his opponents slowly and painfully over hours or days. He decapitated and strangled children. People were beaten with heavy chains. He forced families to attend their children’s execution. Many people had their tongues cut off. He fed prisoners to a lions, panthers and bears and often killed gladiators. One gladiator alone was beaten up for 2 days full days. He sometimes ordered people to be killed by elephants. His cruelty caused people to commit suicide. He demanded sex with a lot of women including his 3 sisters. He would force husbands to give up their wives. He exiled his sisters and had his brother in law put to death. He caused many to die of starvation. Sawing people was one of his favorite things to do, which filleted the spine and spinal cord from crotch down to the chest. He liked to chew up the testicles of victims. He killed some of his most important friends and his father-in-law. One time Caligula said “I wish Rome had but one neck, so that I could cut off all their heads with one blow!” In AD 41, Caligula was killed by Casius Chaerea, a man whom Caligula had mocked at court for his effeminacy.

Sam_"Mad_Sam"_DeStefano.gif

"Mad" Sam DeStefano
Loan Shark, gangster, lunatic.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sam_DeStefano

This guy is considered to be the most sadistic guy to ever be connected to the American/Italian Mafia - although they never let him become a "made" guy because he was fucking nuts. A gang rape and a few theft charges were the stand out moments of his teen years... The dude came into his stride as a loan shark - he deliberately lent money to shitty debtors like junkies, just either he could bring them to his torture chamber and stick them with ice picks - he was the teacher of Tony "The Ant" Spilotro, the guy Joe Pesci's character in Casino was based on... He loved sticking them in people's balls and into people's joints. He was also a shitty husband, forcing his wife to put a gun in her mouth and making her pull the trigger, on my for her to hearth empty gun go click and have him laugh at her... Sam also abducted a strange man at gunpoint and forced him to have sex with Sam's wife at gunpoint to punish her for something or another. As a loan shark he did some really fucked up shit... Especially to his own people... William "Action" Johnson was a guy that did collections for Sam... Sam decided that Action was skimming from the top, so he took Tony Spilotro and tortured him too death... Here's an account of the murder.
One collector of “Mad Sam’s” was William “Action” Jackson. He was a big guy and people did not want to fool with him. If anyone refused to pay, he could send “Action Jackson.” It got back to “Mad Sam” that “Action Jackson” may be tipping off the FBI. Instead of taking any chances, they kidnapped him and brought him down to a meat packing plant. They tortured him for three days before his heart gave out. It is not completely clear how he was tortured but this is considered to be one the worst mafia torture/hits known today. He was hit bats and hammers in hands, knee caps, and groin. He was assaulted with a cattle prod to the rectum and genitals. “Action” was then hung by a meat hook from his rectum, while a blow torch was taken to his genitals. He was shot and jabbed with an ice pick. It is incredible that one human being could endure any of this not less all of this and live for three days. The crew involved in torturing Jackson would laugh on wire taps when talking about how long it took “Action” to die. “Action” Jackson was not working with the Feds.
Here's another classic Mad Sam moment...
In another incident, Peter Cappelletti, a collector for DeStefano, fled Chicago with $25,000 from a loan shark victim. DeStefano's men located Cappelletti in Wisconsin and brought him back to Chicago. DeStefano chained Cappelletti to a radiator and tortured him for three days. While a banquet was going on, Cappelletti was secretly being tortured in the back of the restaurant. "Kill me man, please, I'm on fire!" Cappelletti implored, to which DeStefano replied "Then we need to put the fire out" before having his men drag the severely burned Cappelletti into the dining area and forcing the man's family to urinate on him in unison. Following the banquet, the family quickly paid back the stolen money
Or this one...
Leo Foreman was kidnapped by Mario DeStefano and brought back to his basement where Mario, Sam, Chuckie Grimaldi, and Tony Spilotro tortured the man. They smashed his body, knee caps, his hands, and genitals with a hammer and bat. They sliced pieces of his skin off his body and stabbed him 20 times with an ice pick. When “Mad Sam” was satisfied with the torturing of Foreman, he shot him in the head and placed him in the trunk of an abandoned car. Increasing “Mad Sam’s” reputation in the streets that is you owe “juice” to this loan shark, that he must be paid or else.
And another...
In 1963 Frank Cullotta was at a steakhouse and bar with a friend. “Mad Sam” was at the same steakhouse and bar with a friend of his. They acknowledge each other with a nod. “Mad Sam” was in an argument with a woman. After some yelling from both, “Mad Sam” got up and grabbed the woman and pushed her into the bathroom where he raped her. Both came back out of the bathroom with the woman crying, and they both went back to the bar. She did not call the cops or furthermore made a scene. Frank Cullotta was shocked by what just happened but he knew better to just keep quiet and ignore what had just transpired.
When the Feds started to close in on him, Mad Sam's behaviour got more and more extreme and erratic... In the end it was his protege Tony Spilotro, and his own brother that killed him...
“Mad Sam” DeStefano in the 1970’s Once Tony Accardo put the word out they tapped the best man for the job. They tapped his brother Mario DeStefano to kill “Mad Sam.” On April 14th, 1973 Mario contacted his brother and told him that they figured out where they were keeping Chuckie Grimaldi. “Mad Sam” was seething at the chance to torture and kill Chuckie, just as Mario and Tony planned. Mario DeStefano and Tony Spilotro headed over to “Mad Sam’s” house. Mario got out of the car first and started to approach his brother, with Tony Spilotro following behind Mario, to hide a double barrel pump shotgun. Mario jumps out of the way between Tony and his brother; Tony raises the shotgun and pulls the trigger. With the first shot he almost tears off “Mad Sam’s” arm. He pumps the shotgun quickly again and fires; this time giving the final and fatal shot to “Mad Sam.” “Mad Sam” DeStefano was lying dead on his garage floor, bleeding out with his arm almost decapitated from his body. The most sadistic associate in the Chicago Outfit history is dead on April 14th, 1973. No one was ever charged for the murder of “Mad Sam.”

Anyone with any more, please add... Serial killers, or similar welcome... The more obscure and fucked up, the better.

Shiro-Ishii.jpg

Shiro Ishii was a Japanese microbiologist and a lieutenant general in the biological warfare unit of the Japanese Army during the second Sino–Japanese war. He started his experiments in 1942. He exposed war prisoners and sometimes even civilians to dangerous diseases like plague and anthrax. His other experiments included stimulated strokes and heart attacks, forced abortions etc. Thousands of people died of his experiments. After the Second World War, Ishii was arrested by the American forces. However, he was given immunity in exchange of his medical knowledge.

You can get away with doing absolutely terrible things, so long as the government can in some way benefit from it. Remember to teach your children this valuable fact of life, and this truth about the "justice" system.

Two underrated evil people are Genghis Khan and Nelson Mandela (especially his wife)

Inb4 accused of being racist

Nelson Mandela was a legit terrorist, how conveniently people forget the atrocities he committed against even other South African blacks in the 80s.

Jefferson Davis.

Led a bunch of treasonous assholes against the greatest country in the world.
Should have been hung for his treason (along with all of the other rebel scum), but was released by the Union instead. Likely the biggest mistake the USA has ever made.

I came into thread expecting more like

Seriously bro. The word 'douche' kind of understates the character of say Nazi death camp rapists. I thought we'd look back in time to the first people to wear Lacoste or some shit

Go on... I honestly don't know much about him

You got me there... Thread title change.

Christopher Hitchens certainly changed my views on Mother Teresa.

Dong Zhuo
200px-Dong_Zhuo_Qing_Dynasty_Illustration.jpg

Not only was he cruel, he was a fucking idiot too lol

"Dong Zhuo threw lavish banquets during which torture would be performed on captured enemies as entertainment: he first cut their tongue so they wouldn't make as much noise for the following operations, which were the severing of limbs and removal of eyeballs. Dong made sure that the procedures were conducted so that they would remain conscious when they were eventually thrown into boiling oil. Then the remains of the captives were rolled up into a literal "meat-ball" and placed in the center of the banquet for all to observe. While Dong was quite comfortable with his "masterpiece" and enjoyed his meal as usual, the rest of the audience were said to have experienced a high degree of discomfort"
For Yuan Shao's role as leader of the coalition against him, Dong Zhuo had the entire Yuan clan in Luoyang wiped out. Within two years, thousands of public servants were wrongly accused and executed, and numerous commoners were kidnapped or killed. In order to purchase materials for further development of the Mei citadel, he had bells and bronze statues, among which were nine of the Twelve Metal Colossi,[10] melted and recast into coins. The resulting influx of coinage caused widespread inflation, rendering the currency useless. While his policies greatly reduced Han authority and created immense resentment among the gentry class and commoners of the time,

Basically while he was in jail, his wife led a sort of rebellion against white farmers, and went on the radio to tell the local blacks to kill and burn white landowners, which they did... The practice of "necklacing" was conceived on her watch... She also embezzled a shitload if money, formed a hit squad to take care of people she didn't like, and gig away with it all because of the reverence her husband (who was obviously also behind the whole thing) carried in the U.N.

There was a 100+ post thread about a year ago about what it would be like to own a 200 odd bedroom mansion that was in France or something that was built by King Leopold the second of Belgium.

Not a single comment about how the guy was responsible for about 8 or so million deaths.

Go on... I honestly don't know much about him
Long story short:

Mandela created a terrorist wing that was directly involved in multiple terrorist attacks, including a car bomb that killed 19 people in 1983.

His wife Winnie ordered the death of a 14 year old whom they accused of being an "informant", and "necklaced" countless others (killing people with a burning tyre around the neck).

He was also very close to brutal tyrants like Fidel Castro and Yasser Arafat

Pretty sure Caligula has made most of the all-time asshole lists. He's like the BJ Penn of terrible humans.

But those other two sadistic bastards are certainly plucked from the ranks of the lesser known and remembered. Maybe the Guy Mezger and Steve Jennum of pure evil.
