Hey, Alan Belcher here...

And people dont want white belt to be able to make threads! :D
Also cool to see "White belt" Marcos Avellan post in this thread.

Congrats to the win Alan! Was a great fight.
Good luck with the webinar

I'll be on the webinar for sure. Alan is a cool dude and I think it's great the he's taking time out of his busy training schedule to offer up some free info that a ton of people aren't very well versed on.

Thanks Alan, You da man!

J Scully

Alan,

please tell us what went through your mind, as Paul was trying heel hook you ?

It seemed to me that you were calm and focussed, which I find is impressive enough. Weren't you a little scared that you would end like the others ?

Congrats on the win.

alan is the man. what sold me is that it's free. i just hope this doesn't turn into an eddie bravo 'i beat royler and live off that for 10 years.'

'i escaped paul harris' leglocks so here's my leglock defense dvd for $49.99'

again, alan is the man. i don't get excited for any fights other than his any more. honest.

what designates a professional grappler, most grappling tournaments don't have prize money, so even high level black belts are "amatuers", some local comps may have prizes for even lower belts, does that make the grapplers who compete "professionals"

Scully making an appearance in the thread! Dude is awesome if you do jitz. If you haven't checked out his webinars your making a mistake.

hmmm dont know, adcc and wpjj could be consider as pro since there is money, also black belts compiting in worlds, or other big tournaments, that might not have direct impact on the money, but it sure helps them sell their academy, plus they get money from sponsors, might not be much, but something is something, just an idea, is not the same to recive an advice from from some X guy (white belt) in sherdog than from David Avellan (who is also a white belt in sherdog, just happen to be a world class grappler) and theres always some idiot who will try to insult them just because they dont know who they are, that might turn out to be anoying for some of them and they could vanish from the forum...

I think a better idea, would be to show rank and lineage, since, you can win the WPJJ at blue belt and be professional, and you can be a black belt and be an amatuer. I teach and get paid for it and have a minor sponsor (from the company I work for in my day job), but I would not consider myself professional.

as is now, well I guess we could call professionals those who are currently compiting at the black belt level (or advance or pro or what ever the designation for it at no gi competitions) at biggest tournaments...

Oh, here we go! Now he's going to charge us loads of money to - wait, it's free?

Props, dude. Mad props.

Way to go, Alan....I was out of my seat during that fight, keep doing what you do!!!!

Thanks again everyone. I've been reading some of the posts on here recently and you have a great community of people that genuinely love MMA and grappling here.

Also I don't want anyone to think I'm ignoring them, but I'm going to be answering questions during a segment of the webinar, so I'd like to save some of the fight related questions posted here for that so I can answer everyone at once.

The webinar is going to be live, but I will be putting up some free instructional videos also. Keep your eyes open, they're coming soon!

And Thanks Marcos Avellan, David Avellan, Jay Scully, and Mikey Triangles for helping me get the word out.

Fight related questions? Any fight related questions?

What was your gameplan in the fight with Yoshihiro Akiyama and can you explain what it was like grappling with him on the ground.

Thanks. Your a great fighter and your Jiu-Jitsu is sick.

Do you ever travel anywhere in the country live to do seminars?

*strong hint

Also, what's your advice to a gal just starting out in BJJ? How can I get better faster?

Alan,

I am very interested in the mental mind set you carried going into the fight, plus in the days and weeks leading up to the fight, would love to hear you talk about that.

Palhares is scary, his legs locks are scary and you are a man who needs his legs healthy, how did you deal with that fear of consquence?

I was honestly concerned for you in that fight, shouldn't have been as I knew you were the more founded fighter but he just has that one very string ace in his sleeve.

And one more time.

Congrats on a great win!

From now on I Think a lot of fighters will Avoid Alan on the Ground. You got to believe he can submit anyone not only defend.

Hi Alan, I got question, when Palhares got the takedown where you concerned that he might not go for leg locks and just try to GnP and use his strength to control and pound to a finish or decision? Or not at all since he got pretzeled into a banana split?

Alan made a few awesome videos last night with a taste of what he'll be sharing in the webinar, and also this one to clear up a few things:

check it out.
