I remember playing a bit of co op hexen on the n64 but playing it as an old man and really seeing the nuts and bolts of this game in retrospect I have to say im impressed and addicted to this game.

It is not your average doom clone/boomer shooter like Heretic is, although you can play that one too if u want. This 1995 game is gonna fuck you up.

Hexen is a whole different ballgame.

The game is brutally unforgivingly hard with complex/confusing puzzles, but in a way that keeps me coming back.

It feelsl like it takes an hour before your even allowed to have a non melee weapon. It feels alot more primal and brutal than doom.

I prefer to use the cleric, even though that mace you start out with sucks, you can throw magic poison fog at the enemies which makes up for it and none of the other characters can do that.

And yes you can have a ridiculous amount of co op players if you wish.

I highly reccomend this old ass decrepit game, its alot of fun and was never ported to the good stuff later in life, until now

I loved Hexen, despite being lost 99% of the time.

I'm almost triggered by those pre-YouTube playthrough days, trying to figure things out from a gamefaqs guide.

I saw this remaster, may pick it up at some point. I recall playing some heavily modded/graphically enhanced version a while ago, with most of my recollection being lost all over again.

Apparently they've added some visual markers to help with navigation for this remaster.

They did add the option to occasionally change your character class in the middle of the game, which is cool.

Yeah the puzzles are brutal. There's no help. But...

The game is fun enough and the mystery as well as the setting is very much an old school throwback.

I had the misfortune of trying to play Hexen on PS1. Would not recommend.

I did a playthrough on PC in early 2024, but I did pick up this remaster last week for PS5. On Friday and Saturday night I played through the new episode for Heretic and last night I started the new episode for Hexen.

I’m trying to convince my two best friends that I always play Elden Ring with to pick it up for their PS5s. I don’t think either of them have played Heretic and Hexen since they came out when we were in grade 5 and 6 but I’m hoping they’ll join me for some coop and deathmatch.

I fucking hated Hexen because of it being a 'where the fuck do i go" and gave up. Heretic I loved.

Fuck yeah, this is awesome. Hexen was an amazing game, and I was just thinking about it recently. And agreed, it was a brutal game.

Yeah man that happens, but thats also what kinda makes it unique.

It plays by its own rules, and I kind of enjoy trying to figure out old skool games like this.

The atmosphere is awesome and it keeps me in it
