Everyone is talking about the hardest hitter Vs worst responder to getting hit angle, but I think people are overlooking the key reason Hunt is a nightmare matchup for Brock.

Does Hunto hit like a truck? Absolutely. But so do Roy Nelson, Big Ben and a number of other fighters in the HW division that I would favor Brock over. The difference between Hunt and those haymaker throwing monsters is how efficient and technical his striking is. Hunt rarely fully commits to a strike. Most of his walk off KOs are on short little hooks or uppercuts that he sneaks through the defense.

Why does this matter? Lesnar could likely bull rush Big Country without getting hit by his titanic overhand right, but with Hunt, the chances of Lesnar getting clipped from a strange angle as he comes forward or changes levels is really high. Can Lesnar absorb some punishment in order to get in close or complete a power double? Maybe, but usually when Hunt touches someone it's lights out.

Outside Werdum or sea level Cain, Hunt is the worst possible matchup for Brock.

Lesar is just fearful of being hit, not actually weak-chinned. In the 2nd Mir fight he ate a few including a knee from Mir and still took him down. I think Hunt can catch Lesnar and wobble him but Lesnar would still be on top of Hunt. It'd be interesting to see what happens then.

He's not really technical but he's good at staying in the pocket and connecting with a big shot. His KO power plays a huge role in his success.

Ita takedown for brock vs a clean punch for hunt. Id favour the latter to happen first. Also hunt isnt the easiest to takedown at times

Nobody is overlooking that. Hunt is one of the better HW strikers, we all know that.

Some are overlooking his takedown defense and improved ground game though. Werdum got him down a few times and nothing materialized. Stipe battered him on the ground but that was an outstanding performance everywhere, in which he tired out Hunt on the feet to some extent as well. Plus Brock wouldn't set up his takedowns off the jab as well as Stipe did.

Hunt is a great Career MMA guy who has had a really good and long career and has one of the best one punch KO power ever in MMA. But when the guy faces a really great opponet he usually ends up with the L with few exceptions. Not saying he won't beat Brock as Brock has been out of MMA for 5 years but I don't think he would of beat the Brock that fought at 100 - - I don't think any version of Hunt would of beat that Brock.

Hunt will show his strength during Brock's first takedown attempt and then strike a sumo pose. I can't wait.

This is what I think is being overlooked. Everyone thinks hunt will be on his back as soon as Lesnar touches him; Hunt is a big, strong dude. Brock is gonna have to work hard for the takedown.

I can see Lesnar landing a Randleman/Crocop punch on Hunt and knocking him out cold.

I am not overlooking that at all. Another thing people are overlooking is how strong Hunt is, Brock ain't just gonna muscle him around and get him down easily. Hunt is very strong, even beat Bob Sapp in a strength contest on Japanese TV. he is super strong.

I agree that Hunt could catch Lesnar with a powerful deceptive shot. But he's also a good victim if Lesnar's gameplan is to take him down (mediocre takedown defense) and pound him without getting submitted (little offense from guard). I wouldn't say he's one of the worst matchups for Brock.

JDS would pick Brock Lesnar apart

Actually Hunt rarely turns people's lights out. Guys like Hendo knock people completely out. Hunt usually wins by accumulation or hurts somebody and attempts to get the ref to stop it by walking off. I honestly cannot think of Hunt ever knocking anyone completely out.

How much Lesnar has improved since overoid destroyed him is still a question mark.
War K1 Brock!

I think people are overlooking Hunt's awesome takedown defense.

Came in expecting ts to be talking about Hunt's current amazing takedown defense. Because he improved so much in that aspect.

I'm disappointed.

Edit:

I think people are overlooking Hunt's awesome takedown defense.

My man!!!

Didnt Brock land a huge overhand right on Herring in like the first 5 secs of his career? He has an element of surprise Hunt needs to be ready for as well. Hunt rises to occasions though, if he is half of what he was in the bigfoot fight Lesnar is in big trouble.

weve gotta keep it real here !! of course there is a huge threat that Lesnar can "easily" take Hunt down and end it from there
Hunt is not getting any younger either yet he does have experience
Lesnar is very fkin powerfull and explosive and he actually knows wtf he is doing when he shoots for a takedown ... i just dont see how Hunt will get surprised by that without 1st putting a fist in Lesnars face

WAAAR Hunt
