I wish to make a few points.
1. I hate Judo.
2. I canot stand wearing a grappling gi.
3. ANY competant wrestler will demolish their opponant in a clinch or an over/under tie up.
4. Checkout this clip with Kid Yamamoto:

Single leg takedowns rock and Judo guys cannot sprawl for dollars.
1. I don't take such a strong stance on most fighting styles as "I hate".... Each style has their own strengths and weaknesses. What I hate are those who polarise to opposite sides - either loving or hating a style - often for irrational, theoretical, one-sided reasons. I don't think you are one of those, though.
2. Yeah - wearing a gi is definitely hard to get used to. I struggle with grips in no-gi (in the little I have done) - but others (like Karo) have made the transition well.
3. It depends on who their opponent is, I suppose. Personally I won't judge until I have experienced it for myself.
4. You're gonna pull thise one out of the bag as an example of one vs another? OK. But remember, Koji Komuro is much more a ground-game specialist. His standup is not the best for a judoka - he wins most of his matches on the ground with almost invariably a "fake-tomoe-to-armbar" tech.
One video is not proof as there are always videos to the contrary:

Oh - and Yamamoto is just awesome.
It takes some time to adapt but I think an average judoka sprawls OK. The stance in judo can be a lot different, though - often more upright and using hips to block. I have fought a few judoka with wrestling backgrounds and they are definitely very awkward to deal with. They hardly "demolish" their opponents, though.
So whereabouts in Sydney can you go to get decent no-gi wrestling? I only know of Hornsby PCYC and have been meaning to go there for ages but I keep getting either injured or delayed.
