Herb "Quick Stoppage" Dean gets to ref Cormier/Jones

Why is it that Herb "Quick Stoppage" Dean always gets the nod to ref the main fight? Big John is also 1 of the refs and should've been the clear choice. Jones is known for his fingers going into his opponents eyes. Herb says nothing while Big John always shouts out to keep the fingers up or use closed fist. I have a feeling somebody is going to get eye poked while Herb just looks on and does nothing.

herb would have taken a point of jon had poked cormier again. Watch what he says to jones after it happens. I have a feeling jones/cormier 2 will go to a decision also, so dean won't have a chance to stop the fight early or way too late this time.

I hope DC brings his welding mask. We need Percival for times like this, I imagine he wouldn't even issue a warning, he would just walk over to Jones and snap his fingers on the spot.

Herb is still one of the best ref. Everybody would fuck up a few of thousand rounds.

Herb makes some mistakes but he's not terrible.

Jon & DC should be able to settle this fairly.

I just hope he takes control if Jon starts with the eye attacks.

Herb Dean's problem is that he kinda is a "UFC" company man even if not working directly for them, especially since Dana praised him as the best ref ( when BJM was UFC banned )
I don't see him taking a point out from JBJ for the eyepokes, and that's why DC expressed his feelings to put pressure on him.

We'll see how he does but I would have preferred BJM/Goddard/Josh Weedenthal

Herb has had just as many "late" stoppages as "early" stoppages.

It is at his discretion when to stop the fight, anyway. Late or early is really just your take on it.

I don't think Herb is that bad. He is bias which IMO is a good thing. Some fights need to go longer and others don't. For instance if the Nogs get floored you stop it because neither of them are getting back up. Travis Browne or Rothwell you can let it go further. Overall I think Herb is good. Will always prefer Big John though.
