That fight was supposed to be the #1 contender fight, he won and then begged for the title shot. But nope, he doesn't get his wish because GSP vs Diaz brings in more $$$.

It's kind of bullshit but Diaz was scheduled to fight GSP anyway before Diaz/Condit. And GSP wants this fight so they may feel obliged to give it to him because I doubt he asks for much.

hendricks earned it, diaz unfortunately lost in a very boring fight vs condit. i still rather see diaz vs hendricks and gsp vs spider at 170

And he lost his chance and then lost a fight.

Guys getting title shots coming off a lose is not something I thought I would see in the modern UFC if the two guys hadn't just fought. This is not the way to become a main stream sport.

I feel for him. GSP ducked him baaaaad....

Three top 6 wins, and the worse thing is, it isn't even Anderson who got the chance to face Georges.

Hendricks is now trying to goad GSP into wanting him to fight him (by calling him a duck), and yet is mad that Diaz successfully goaded GSP into wanting to fight him (by calling him a duck).

irony is fun.

apparently your gambit failed Hendricks. it was a good try though.

Why do you think he was talking shit to begin with? He won a title eliminator, and yet all anyone could wonder was about Silva or Diaz, with Diaz SPECIFICALLY because he talked a lot of shit. He tried to play the game because it was apparent he'd never be allowed that shot on his own merits, since Mouth is King now in UFC.

yeah riiight GSP IS AFRAID OF HENDRICKS

lmao.

GSP wants Diaz because he wants to destroy him.

He's much more motivated to fight Diaz than Hendricks.

UFC is a business and if it were mine I'd do the same. Yes, Hendricks deserves it, but he needs to make himself more marketable - his name is still less recognizable than his last three opponents. It's the same issue I have w/Weidman.

Hendricks more than deserves his shot, and it would be a good fight.

Instead of his not fighting until he gets a title shot, he should ask for a rematch vs Story on the same card as GSP vs Diaz.

Nick might screw up again and not be able to fight.

I'm a big fan of the Diaz brothers, but if GSP isn't fighting Silva, he should fight Hendricks first.

I'd like to Diaz vs. Ellenberger or Koscheck, or maybe even Kampmann. Fitch would be good too, but he's fighting Maia now.

If GSP does fight Silva though, Hendricks vs. Diaz would be awesome

I certainly understand why people are complaining about Diaz getting the shot at GSP, but I have to wonder (not really) if most are the same people that wanted him to face a bigger, stronger, and equally if not more talented fighter in Silva. As for Hendricks, those who argue for him also just want to see GSP lose, and they think he has the one punch that could possibly do it. They also always mention the streak Hendricks is on, but none ever seem to mention the Kos fight. He has as much right to be complaining as anyone.

when someone is hypocritical, the "but he did it FIRST!" excuse is beyond lame. but that's beside the point, really. the most interesting part of all this is....

Hendricks basically drew a line in the sand when he said "i won't fight anyone except for the belt". apparently Dana was not scared of it. one should be careful with that strategy.

he played a gambit and apparently he didn't have quite enough juice to pull it off. shrug. it was a good try though.

i'm not saying he doesn't deserve the belt. i WILL say title shots have NEVER been solely based on merit though. i won't bother with moralizing that or not (e.g. ("omfg it's so UNFAIR!"), cuz it doesn't' bother me that much. and this topic has been done thousands of times. and and i STILL think it's funny that he is now upset that Diaz got under GSP's skin for the title shot, he thinks it's unfair, and will therefore try to "right the wrong" by....getting under GSP's skin for the title shot. irony is fun.
