Hendo by far, and it's not even close.

Couture didn't just win gold in two weight classes in the UFC.

He held UFC gold on 5 separate occasions and, I believe, is tied for most HW title defenses. And he did all this while he was old enough for social security benefits.

I think it's a lot closer than a lot of you guys are making it out to be.

You have to look at it in context: when he beat Vitor back in 97, Vitor was a monster. When he beat Maurice Smith... Mo was the champion who just whipped the then-unbeatable Coleman. Randleman, HW champ and monster at the time. Pedro twice when Pedro was fucking up everyone. Chuck and Tito when they were in their primes. Tim Sylvia when he was champ and everyone thought Randy was going to get killed. Randy pulled off a lot of huge upsets and a lot of big wins. It's a close race.

They both had pretty great careers, with some epic wins, and some tough losses. I'd call them pretty even if you ask me. No need to put one over the other. Hendo is likely to most people's pick though for the main reason that he is still fighting, and people in MMA have short memories. Half the posters on Sherdog at this point probably haven't seen a live Couture fight.
